I had some reservations about trying this place after reading reviews about the ghastly service, mediocre food and pretentious atmosphere. But sometimes when going on a dinner-and-a-movie date, you can't be too picky with what you choose; it needs to be near the theater. And as we know, Atlantic Station does not exactly sport the best variety of exciting eats in the city. I had one of those "Oh boy....." moments when we walked up to the door and there was a sign stating "Proper Attire Only". Basically everyone else was overdressed for a Sunday night (looked like a nightclub on a Saturday night). I did feel a little uncomfortable in my jeans and simple shirt. Surprisingly, I did not have the nightmare experience with the service here that other rateclubser's complained about. I thought the service was Strip's main redeeming quality. Our server was so attentive and our food was out in no time. I thought he managed to show a lot of his personality with us, and joked around and took the time to explain some of the maki rolls to me so that I could pick just the right one. The food was pretty lacking for my tastes. I tried the Strip Special roll, which had a nice mix of different fish, eel, avocado and a teriyaki sauce. No major complaints, except that the eel did not taste quite right. Maybe it was not fresh enough. I also just did not taste the quality of ingredients or inventive mix that I was hoping for. My boyfriend had the Pappardelle pasta, which he loved. Neither of us were really full enough after our entrees, so we decided to split the Super Crunch roll, which was a big disappointment because it was exactly the same as the Special, with a little crunchiness in the middle. I could not even taste the shrimp. I did not care for the decor, but I think it is just a preference thing. It struck me as cold and not very inviting. They were very heavy on the plastic and vinyl.

It seems like when they built this place they really were going for that exclusive, invite only look. With that comes ridiculously expensive drinks, and rude staff. The downstairs really looks cool, with its lined ceiling and red walls. Maybe its the crowd that generally goes here, but it seems like everyone just likes standing around, and looking at each other while the DJ does his thing. I had fun here once dancing my heart out. Were we the only ones, yes. Was i superbly fucked up, yes. I wouldn't really suggest going here.
