Weird how I walk into a gay bar and feel more insecure than I have ever felt anywhere else. Maybe it was the fact that it was a Monday night. Nobody likes Mondays. I'm definitely the outcast/minority... especially walking in with a group of four other straight girls. All eyes on us. Burning. "What do THEY think they're doing here?" Sigh. My mind is probably overactive and I am overreacting. However as we get settled in and order some drinks I am feeling good and more at home. Have a few conversations here and there, even get in a little dance move or two, take some pictures-- but let's face it-- it's a meat market and I am the grade D cube steak. Oops, self esteem drops another 10 points as soon as the drag show gets under way. Why do they all look exponentially better than I do? Why isn't my ass that perky? I want to dance and twirl too. Really, the truth is that I am entranced. I don't want it to end. I love the hood white girl with the big ass. I want to watch her shake it all night long. She let me touch it. I almost got electrocuted. In summation... I had a great time at Blake's. Drag show is six days a week, you can't beat that! I will be returning for sure and will aim for a weekend night. Because nobody likes Mondays.

23 of us showed up for lunch unannounced. Not only were they nice to us, our food showed up quickly and all at the same time, the portions were huge, and they gave us a 20% UCSF discount! I like the French fries alot and my friend's mussels and chorizo were pretty good. Not such a big fan of the veggie burger any more and the cole slaw was weird but overall a great place to eat lunch overlooking the water. The beer selection could use some improvement.

Agreed with Shraddha S. about service being ridiculously slow. But, when you go with a large group, gratuity fees guarantees a good tip so why bother I guess. The food was not bad, but not a single dish that has me wanting to go back. I wanted to order the cod, but they were out. Okay so how about catfish, nope out. What? Really? So I ordered the red snapper dish, which came with shitake mushrooms. I don't like shitake mushrooms so I substituded for other vegetables. When I received my red snapper.....well that was it...no vegetables accompanied the snapper. I got my side of veggies half way through my meal. My friends ordered the Pork Vindaloo, which was pretty tasty and spicy! The appetizers were pretty good. We had the spicy chicken samosas, spring rolls, some shrimp dish and tuna tartar. While I had an amazing time with my friends, I didn't enjoy the service or the food really. Again, I don't like to spend a lot of money for average food and bad service. Does not make me happy.
