by Jewelyn T. on "Where house music lives!" So TRUE! I came to Deep's anniversary party back in Feb 2008, when visiting LA for vacation. My friend Rich who's a photographer, was taking photos for the event and hooked it up for me that night! I went solo... got in free and partied all night on stage!!!! I even got to eat a piece of that yummy anniversary cake! Now that's what I call connections! Thanks Rich! I ended up going home with souvenirs... a deep tank and boy shorts. uber cuteness!!! They even did a ballon drop... pretty silver ballons everywhere! coolness. I had one of the best nights here, rockin' to some of the most amazing house music ever! Craziness!!!!! Now that I live in LA, I hope to go back to one of Deep's parties soon! It's been 2 years... since I visited Deep at Club Vanguard... I'm sure it's still rockin' Hollywood! by Bill H. on I normally don't like places that look like this. And by "like this," I mean cool. You know, with fun lighting and cool fireplaces and dark backrooms and hip music. These places are usually packed with snobby snobs, but not Sugar Cafe. I visited on a Thursday night, and was able to get a (very comfortable leather) seat with a large group. Impossible. I'm still in disbelief. I didn't have a drink there, so I can't comment on the quality of the booze; my fellow patrons were satisfied with what they received. I did manage to snag one of their sliders, and I was pleased (but not in love). I'd give this place one more star if the bar was just a little bit more full. It was too empty, and I didn't have "inherent bar fun" that you get with a more energetic crowd.
by Leroy Dedmon on I love Phoenix Landing. Their cuban sandwich is worth it as a destination alone, but it's just a restful place to come, whether it's for a casual dinner or a pre stop before a show. I love this kind of food, and it's the type of place that makes me want to live right near it.
