by Damian Zocklein on Did I go to a different restaurant then the other reviewers??? Swanky Asian atmosphere complete with valet attendants? Check. Crazy bizarre weekend late night dance club? Check. Good service and friendly servers? Check. So where was the good, fresh food that most people are raving about? Not at Golden Temple as far as I could tell. My group had a couple of appetizers and several entrees. The food wasn't greasy like many Chinese places so I'll give them that but the flavors were nothing new or exciting and the sauces were fairly bland. My biggest complaint was the temperature of the food. None of our entrees were hot! The surfaces was cool and the centers were lukewarm at best which makes me think they were sitting for a while before being served and weren't event under heat lamps. Also the shrimp dish we ordered tasted overwhelmingly like what I imagine lemon cleaning solution to taste like. I was really excited about the whole Chinese food made with fresh, healthy ingredients concept but was very underwhelmed and probably won't be back unless there is bribery involved.
by Wendy W. on I like the idea of places like this - I like what it brings to the Austin food and drink landscape. We only came for drinks and dessert -- and everything was perfectly good. The audio on the patio was confusing, as there was music coming from about 3 different nearby sources on that Friday night. Looking forward to having a drink inside sometime.
by Brandon Voyles on Generally a GREAT night when OM Records/Remedy is hosting otherwise it can get a little sketchy. The once great sound system is definitely showing its age. There's really nothing that special about this place other than going on the right night. If you're into house music you'll know which nights to go to - simple as that.
