by dennis b. on Ya' know, I would like to tell you about the food, service, etc., but we left prior to being served or subjected to anything this place has to offer. Non-existant service; we sat at our table for ten minutes and finally received water in dirty glasses, placed a drink order (two glasses of wine totaling $17) which we never received. Finally, I decided to leave. This place was less than 10% full at 8 p.m. on a Friday night (should have paid closer attention to that). Not being greeted at the door or even partly acknowledged upon entering the place is poor form for the restaurant and a portent of what one might (&did) experience. Finally, if you don't feel welcomed, don't stay! This place said bye-bye to at least a $50 check which another establishment will enjoy and in these times fully appreciate. I'm willing to put up with quite a bit to enjoy good food, but bad vibes via no service and a general lack of customer service is not acceptable. There are sooooo many places here in Austin that want (& need) your biz... don't allow an operation with a bad attitude to continue... hospitality, what a concept!
by Brandon L. on Went there for the first time last night and had a GREAT time, but spent a lot of money. We didn't have to pay a cover charge if we went in pairs, so we found a couple more ladies to get in. Pros: Great environment, Great DJ, Cool bartenders, Beautiful people Cons: Expensive drinks and Closed slide (very disappointed about this one) Will definitely go back!
by Vergie Schrull on I went to Parish for the second time last night. The first time I went, it was with a large group, literally within the restaurant's first week of being open. I thought the flavor of the food was good, however, the issues were with the temperatures of the food served. The savory cheesecake was cold in the middle, my friend's shrimp burger was soggy/cold, and my ahi tuna touredo was completely cooked through. I, along with the rest of my party chalked this up to it being their first week open. However, after another disappointing meal last night, i think i'm over it. I went with my boyfriend, and another couple. For starters, the two lighter fish dishes were unavailable. We were aware that the ahi tuna was gone upon arrival, but both myself and the other lady at the table had ordered the redfish and 20 minutes later we were told that it had run out as well. So i got the beef short ribs, which were not very juicy themselves, but coated in sauce, and the fries were soggy. This was because the entire dish was served in a bowl, which i thought was strange. The espresso tart was dry, but the wine was good and the bread pudding was delicious. Overall, it just was not that great. And lastly, we had to send our check back three times for everything to be correct, which was a bit absurd. Final thoughts = great space, great ambiance, food is lacking.
