My boyfriend and I went here a couple weeks ago for a birthday party--but not before checking rateclubs to see what was up (yeah, I'm hip and say cool things like that.) Having said this, I am pleased to further announce that Busby's East was far cooler than most people gave it credit for. First, a list of things that I didn't necessarily like, or, The Gospel Truth of Busby's East, According to Elizabeth L. C.: 1. The music was really, really loud, and some of it was bad. Not Wtfits* bad, but, like, pretend, wanna be ironic bad. Think Kesha (I refuse to give that broke ass bitch a dollar sign, thankyew.) But they did play Lady Gaga videos (sadly, without sound), so it kind of all worked itself out in the end. 2...2...well, I forget what my second complaint was, so I guess it doesn't matter and wasn't that bad at all, really. Everything else was pretty cool. Cover was free, food was-- --okay, now I remember my second problem. My boyfriend and I ordered food in the dining room part of the bar (e.g., the little tables on the side) and were promptly told to move so they could clear out the tables. We had just ordered. Seriously, what the fuck? The conversation played out like this: Bouncer guy: You guys have to move. Me: Huh? Alex: We just ordered food. Me: (panicked) Where will our food go? Bouncer guy: (checks room, seems to consider for a minute.) We'll clear it when you finish (only he said the Bouncer guy version of that) Alex: Thanks. Bouncer guy: No problem. Me: (to Alex) Where's our food? Shortly afterward--after we'd got out food, but before our super ditzy waitress with the most cloying voice I have ever heard in my life EVER (I guess that's complaint number three) returned with our catsup, another bouncer guy asked us to move. Again. Wow, I had completely forgotten about that. Damn. I'm subtracting a star, because it sucked. I'm withholding like that. For now, however, we will return to the good: Everything else was pretty cool. Cover was free, food was good and surprisingly cheap for bar fare--we got a sort of appetizer sampler thingy for under $20, including tip. I had heard that drinks were expensive, so, instead of buying inside, we chugged vodka out of a water bottle in the BofA parking lot, because that's what classy gents do. Best part of the night: Parking was free at the BofA lot literally around the corner. That was pretty sweet, so I'm going to give Busby's back the star that I took away, for a total of three (and a half, if rateclubs did halves) razzling, dazzling stars. *"What the fuck is this shit?"

This is the former Tokio Bar, where they shot a lot of scenes from The Real World Hollywood, but has since been remodeled to Ecco. Me and a friend went here last Sat. night after we went to another club that I just wasn't digging. There wasn't really a line around 11:45pm, so the door guy let us in and no cover charge. Yay for that. I don't feel a girl should ever have to pay cover to get into any club or bar, that is just insulting. Soon as we walk in, I see the dance floor is full with people having a good time dancing. This particular night had DJ Eric Cubeechee, and everytime he's on, I know that he will play good danceable hip hop! (Which is my favorite at a club!) For me, the most important thing about a club is the MUSIC! Cubeechee had everyone on the floor just having fun. Then later on, I guess his shift ended and some other DJ took over, and then he started playing house music :( Why is it so hard to find a club that plays good hip hop or top 40 all night?? So then I lost interest in dancing and walked around (it is a small venue, but I've seen smaller.) There actually was some tall, cute guys!! This is a rarity these days, so luckily since I wasn't able to dance I had some tall, dark and handsome eye candy to finish out the night. I never drank so I don't know about the drink prices. The outdoor patio was small, and unfortunately had all the nicotene junkies sucking up the fresh air, so didn't stay out there too long. Overall, I had a good time, and will go back. And hopefully DJ Cubeechee will play all night in the future, and gotta love no cover charge in Hollywood.

Went here for the first time last night... it was pretty good It was a bit on the darker side... not the best ambience but the decor, especially the massive buddha statue in the center looked great. I did not eat here, just came for drinks and dancing around 11:30pm. The crowd seemed to be energized and the music was different than most clubs, kind of like an indian techno, but I really enjoyed it. I would definitely go back to at least check out the food and then stay for the music afterwards for a second experience... first time was only there for an hour or so, didn't really get a complete feel for the place
