GETTING IN: Showed up around 1030 or so and there was a VERY large crowd of people in the "guest list" line.  Luckily a girl friend had put myself and another guy friend on a promoters list and we actually bypassed the line by talking to one of the guys wandering around sort of "monitoring" the line.  Would I risk it if I wasn't on a list?  I'd show up early and give it some time.  It's a huge place so odds are good of getting in, plus the good news is that there are plenty of other places in the vicinity. THE CROWD: A very wide range of folks.  Wide range of ages, ethnicities, all of it.  Certainly not the hottest crowd i've seen in LA, but in general more than enough talent running around to appease anyones taste. THE CLUB:  It gets a star, maybe 2, simply for the location/club itself.  You arrive after the elevator ride (which in and of itself is kind of a cool ride up with a nice building sense of anticipation) to a very open space of a dance floor with a large bar running the entire width.  In back of the dance floor is a more private balcony area that I highly recommend with great views of Hollywood Blvd as well as looking down into the rest of the hotel itself.  On the other end of the club is the pool/outdoors area which is a completely different vibe/scene.  Another bar is located here (it's never an issue getting a drink here) and its a much more laid back lounge-y vibe.  Think the Viceroy in Santa Monica only with an UNREAL view.  The view puts to shame sky bar and others and is just astounding.  Makes the place worth the trip by itself.  Great to take any out of town visitor. OVERALL:  Highly recommend at least one trip simply for the view.  It's a great party, great venue, and just awesome seen overall.  For pure attractiveness of the crowd, there are better places, which for me is what subtracts a star.  Other than that, the hell with these other reviews bitching away and enjoy!

We had a blast at Playhouse for my friend's bachelorette party.  Music was great, people were dancing and in good moods, and the gogo dancers are hot!  We got in right away (on the guest list), and had to pay $20 cover, which I don't mind once in awhile for places like this. Cons:  The bartenders were making up prices for drinks, so it totally depended on who you ordered from and how grumpy they were.  (I'm talking to you, Surly Guy in the middle bar) Dance area is kind of small, very crowded, and slippery by tables. Several people mentioned how good the sound system is: I liked the music, but it was WAY too loud.  My ears are still ringing.  Is it  possible to have a club experience without losing my hearing?

What's all the fuss about? Me and my friends made our way to Tenjune after dinner to have cocktails and groove the remaining night away.  Before we arrived, my sense was that a hip spot would pose a challenge to get in without a name on the guest list or a name to drop to the doorman. I looked at the growing line of people standing vigilantly in line waiting to get in and decided that it wasn't worth waiting and decided to make my self-important transformation (or act) to convince the bouncer I was the life of the party. So we get in without waiting and make our way into the dark abyss of Tenjune. I scan the room to determine its size and walk over to the end of the room to see if there was any hidden doors. "Is this it?" I query my local Manhattanites and they in turn respond with an embarrassed nod. Let me sum it up: Tenjune is just one big VIP room serving expensive drinks and playing pop music. For all the fuss of putting on an act to get in, you're better off going somewhere else.
