by Rochelle Berdux on This is one of my favorite places to go and get a bite to eat, grab a drink, and see a show. The service is as good as its going to get at a place where people hang. I'm only giving it four stars because they no longer have the chicken sandwich which was amazing. If your looking for a snack or an appetizer, there pita and hummus is awesome. If your looking for a dessert that is truly "to die for", you can't go wrong with anything you chose whether it be the Apple Crisp or the Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding (my personal favorite.) If there is one tip I could shout out to the establishment it is "please bring back the Chicken Sandwich ... it was sooo yummy."
by Peter L. on A favorite place to go clubbing to Eurotrance, house and high-bpm music. For its layout, what with a large balcony and overhang, the sound sound system is really good. There's a large stage for performances, be it famous acts or amazing contortionist performers. There's large bars on both sides of the dance floor so a drink is never far away. Usually, it's a Gen-X and surburban crowd. Most of the time, there are the foreign tourist crowd (my guess is those who are used to this type of clubbing atmosphere back home). However, the middle-aged clubbers - while normal overseas - are kind of a buzz kill here. But overall, this club's decor and layout reminds me of the Asia clubbing scene, hence the rating. Parking is tough for the area given its proximity to the touristy spots around Union Square. The nearby Mason/O'Farrell garage ( http://www.rateclubs.com/bi...) is a pretty safe bet if don't want to look.
by Michelle Kalahiki on I came here for a friend's show on a Monday night, so perhaps the vibe was a little different to usual - but nonetheless, I loved the scene and will definitely go back. I did drop a name at the door so had no trouble getting in - I'm not sure if that is normally an issue. With no cash on me, I put my credit card down and I was told up front that there was a $60 minimum (plus tip). With work the next day, I wasn't intending on drinking that much but the champagne was pretty pricey so spent it pretty quickly with a few friends. So that aspect sucked but it wasn't going to stop me from having a good night. I found out later that my friends had a few tables, with free vodka, etc so that was great, but I had already spent quite a bit. I thought the crowd was an attractive, hip bunch of people. As per usual, there were the try-hards amongst them, but most people were genuinely cool. I loved the decor, didn't really care that it is "green" - I just liked the feel of the space - would be great for private parties. The layout is slightly odd though. Most places, I feel you can walk in and immediately work out where everything is - here you kinda have to do a 360, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The live performances were slightly average, but the DJ's set was a good eclectic mix of rock, electro and indie. My friend hated it, but I loved it. All in all - take cash, great crowd, good music and awesome space.
