by Barrett L. on This isn't just my neighborhood bar, but this is Philly's neighborhood bar. It's the kind of bar that you go to when you want to go out but don't want to try anything new or different. It's the place you go where all you want is a good burger, a good beer, and not much else. In other words: your perfect local bar. This small but charming local watering hole also has an open secret: they serve some of Philadelphia's best and most well-liked hamburgers. Unlike some of the newer and more publicized burger joints in town, they don't make a big deal about the ingredients or the quality of the meat, but they cook everything right and serve it to you fresh with a side of golden delicious french fries and a tangy aioli mayo that'll keep you from grabbing the ketchup. The Grace Burger (a cheeseburger with Swiss) is very good, but if you're feeling decadent, try the Kelly Burger, perfectly cooked and complemented with smoky, flavorful bacon and sharp cheddar. The bar also has a great draft options. Local and regional breweries like Yards, Troegs, Stoudts, Ithaca, and state hero Yuengling dominate the taps, with virtually everything else available by the bottle. If you're planning a big group bar crawl or a crazy night out, skip this and head to Ten Stone down the street, but for an unpretentious night out with friends, Grace Tavern is your friendly local pub where you might just see your neighbor watching the Flyers game alongside you.

If you are coming here expecting to eat great Mexican food, you might be disappointed. However, if you are coming here to meet some friends or a casual date for happy hour, you should be able to have a good time without breaking the bank. Pros: 1. Decent happy hour with free appetizers. 2. Pretty good margaritas. 3. Lively atmosphere with music in the evenings. 4. Outside patio seating, smoking allowed. 5. You don't have to fight the traffic and crowds in Old Town . Cons: 1. Food is mediocre, and a bit on the greasy side. 2. Outside of happy hour specials, your bill will add up quickly. 3. The music in the evenings is LOUD. 4. Service is hit and miss.
