He says: She brought me here to celebrate my successful PhD defense (go me).  First, I have to say that the food was definitely some of the best I've had in my life.  With that said, I can't quite rightfully give it 5 stars due to some hiccups.  I ordered the second level omakase (120) and the equivalent beverage omakase (the 65 one, if I recall).  Here is the run down, on a per dish basis.  I'm giving a # rating for each item, in parentheses. Appetizers: 1. Rock shrimp tempura (3) - Tasty, but I felt it tasted too much of sauce and batter, really covering up the actual shrimp flavors.  Meh. 2. Short Rib Spring Roll (4) - Really liked it, very tasty.  I'm a sucker for spring rolls... Omakase: 1. Tuna Tartar (4) - Delicious.  The dashi sauce really completes the dish. 2. Japanese Oysters (5!) - 3 preparations of raw oyster, all delicious.  The one with fish sauce and a jalapeno slice on it was amazing.  I could have eaten a plate of those. 3. Red Snapper with Yuzu Sauce (4) - Quite tasty, served with greens. 4. Red Snapper Carpaccio (5!) - Easily my favorite dish, among my all time favorites.  Amazing fish with a delicious fatty sauce (maybe duck fat?). 5. 8 Spice Maine Lobster (4) -Good, but mainly just lobster.  The seasonings didn't add much and were not spicy.  The paired riesling was great though. 6. Braised Short Rib (3) - Flavor was all right, but middle was a bit tough.  Lowlight of the meal. 7. Sushi Assortment (4) - Very tasty, especially the needlefish.  I also stole some hamachi from my wife, and it was excellent- as good as you'd find in Japan. 8. Tuxedo-style (mainly chocolate) cake with mint jello cubes (5) - A great finish. Normally, I'd give this sort of a meal a 5, but the beverage omakase underwhelmed.  The wine pairings did well, but the G sake provided did not match its dish and was not very good in my opinion- good nose, bad finish.  Particularly noticeable, since my wife had the house junmai daiginjo on her side- which put the G to shame.  Also, the cake was served with a sweet tawny port that sure as heck didn't pair with the mint cubes that completed the cake.  Clearly, chef and drinkologist have got to get on the same page with the omakase.  I was also disappointed to see that the beverage omakase did not include any spirits, despite the fact that I mentioned I enjoyed such drinks (apparently it was not Suntory time?).  Overall, a very good meal though. She says: Overall, we had a wonderful meal, and the maitre'd did a nice job of seating us where we could enjoy some space and privacy (because of the snowstorm, the place was not packed). I ordered the chef's choice sushi set (50 -- I decided to live large), which came with about four types of sashimi, a bunch (ten?) of beautiful nigiri, and a roll of spicy tuna.  Gorgeous presentation, even more gorgeous taste.  The quality of fish was magnificent (though unfortunately, the toro was a little on the stringy side for some reason, but everything else was pristine, rich in flavor, and well-constructed). This dish makes you respect Morimoto's understanding of traditional Japanese food (despite his image as a rock-star nouveau Japanese chef) and ability to find and serve excellent seafood. I also tried some of Morimoto's sake (the junmai and the junmai daiginjo) and loved both.  I'm not a sake drinker, and this was the first time I really truly enjoyed sake and found it to be smooth and enjoyable.

I would give it 5 stars if the place didn't get so hot and if they had a waterslide...every club should.  But who cares about oppressive heat, The DJ was SO good, every song was perfect and the crowd was really happy. This club is primarily for gay women, but like all good things, it attracts it's mix of happy people who just come to have a good time. You must get on the guest list or you are screwed, it's easy to get on so don't sweat it.  Go onto their site and put your name down. I read some complaints on the different types of lesbians that go here as opposed to other places and how someone wouldn't set foot because she has strict ethical Lesbian Laws she must follow.  sad.  I get it though, I hate the Abbey and the stuck-up gym fags who all think they are porn stars and deserve to date models. The women I saw at Booby are attractive, in-shape, wear make-up and have good taste in clothes,  the dykes-on-bikes stereotype of what a lesbian looks like is changeing and I say HALLELUJAH!!  It just shows that there are all types of people, Don't say Boobytrap is worthless because the lesbians who go here don't strap their breasts down, have mannish haircuts and grab their crotch trying to pretend they are some tough dude....you want that then cool, go somewhere else.  The ladies here have style and they love being women at its awesome,   Masculine-identified women are more than welcome but they aren't the majority like at most lesbian clubs. YAY Boobytrap, and HELLO KIM ANH!  You guys are doing a good job.

How can one talk about Harvard Square without mentioning the Kong? This place is known for their scorpion bowls, which is a bucket of sweetly flavored alcohol to be shared with friends via long multi-colored straws. The main level is a large bland space with a bar, the top floor is more clubby with dancing music going all night. The scene varies a lot, you get underage kiddies and bschool folk alike. It is not a destination, but more of a stop on a crazy alcohol ladened night. They keep their Chinese kitchen open late, so if you're in the areas you can satisfy your last night munchies with some kung pao.
