by Wilber Fleenor on So, I try not to question my taste when I see that clearly someone has a vastly different opinion -- I'm just not there yet in my life, I guess, where I'm unapologetically me. But man, I love Trudy's chicken enchiladas with suiza sauce. At every Mexican restaurant we'd go to, my hubby would tease me that I'd get the most expensive item on the menu (usually the fajitas) -- but something, a couple years ago, made me try the enchiladas at Trudy's, and I've (rarely) ever gone back to those tasty fajitas. YUM. Love the rice it's served with, the enchiladas are good; anywhere else i've tried enchiladas with sour cream sauce just is NOT this good. Of course the mexi martinis are good -- a server at another location advised that the margaritas were exactly the same as the martinis, but there wasn't a limit on the margaritas -- good intentions, but 3 of us could taste the difference. The most pleasant surprise ever was this summer -- walked in on a Saturday night about 7P. We were seated in *10* mins. You regulars know that never happens -- the wait is the most atrocious thing about Trudy's, and what usually deters us from going, but that Sat, we were hosting a friend living in MI but from TX, so she was craving good Tex-Mex. Heaven for her. And that 10 min wait was crazy. We'll probably wait til some UT-break before hitting Trudy's again, just to avoid the rush again.
by Jibreel M. on If you know house music, you probably already know Sullivan Room. A block and a half south of Washington Square. No sign, true, but nice door staff just the same. Actually, all the staff seem quite personable. Drinks are not cheap, but not jaw-droppingly expensive. Awesome bookings here, what more could you want. Dress for the heat, because it's already warm down there and you WILL want to shake your ass to the tunes. Sullivan Room has a very consistent party at WMC in Miami every year; go to that if you can too.
by sarah e. on This place is sorta smallish, but has a nice vibe...I stopped in here last night and freakin' JAIME FOX rolls in with his crew! Before we know it, he gets up and starts singing 'goldigger' and continues for like half an hour! I was initially a little bruised by the long wait to get in, but, after the free spontaneous concert, I was over it!
