Went on a Wednesday night for a friend's bday and I was soo impressed. It's very intimate and the perfect ambience (size, decor, feel) for an authentic jazz club (if ur looking for the answer to BB King's down in Times Square then you MUST be lost). Wed. nights, the band Soul Station plays and they're a great 6-piece (I think) band. They were very Stevie Wonder heavie but isn't he great?! I loved it. The guest singer was also epic, GREAT vocals! The food....DELICIOUS. I had the seafood meatballs and to my surprise, the presentation and taste was on par to a 4-star restaurant. The entrees are definitely pricey but next time I come, I'll have to explore more of the menu. Service was also excellent...I'll be back!

Tahcha is the tea shop I've been hoping to find in Atlanta, a well-lit joint (hush, you) with a wide variety of custom-blended teas and a gang of tea-savvy people behind the counter to make it just right. Prices are reasonable, there's a good variety of monstrously-delicious-looking cakes and pastries (the Chocolate Decadence Cake may have been so named because it threatened to fall down under its own towering weight), and the seating includes several armchairs-and-couch living room sets. This place is one bed away from being my favorite bed-and-breakfast.

I can't say I hate the place, but I can't say I like the place in the least bit. It's a turn off from the long line to the dancefloor. 1. Racism - I first heard about it from my boyfriend when we first started dating and he typically goes there with a bunch of guy friends. None of them are Korean but they're asian enough to get in. One of the guys though is filipino but he looks slightly... mexican(and not too attractive). So every single time the bouncer finds a reason for him to get turned away at the door even after the long wait in the line. 1st time they said his attire didn't fit the dresscode (ok happens, everywhere). 2nd time, they said it was packed so they stopped just him at the line. 3rd time, they were early and dressed for it, and the bouncer just said no. 2. Girls before Guys - Any guy that goes to clubs in NYC knows they're going to be benchwarmers standing in line for hours and watch girls or anyone with a girl get in the club before them because no club wants a sausage fest. Circle is particularly typical of this. First time I went I got their late with my BF around 1am on a saturday night. Groups of guys might as well have just set up camp for next week by that point because a big group of men with no women to offer the club had about 0% chance of getting in especially by that hour. I waited in line for 20 min with my guy, and decided to go talk to the bouncer to see if we could hurry the process. He was actually extremely polite, which is the only good thing I can say about circle. But I asked since I only had a party of 2 if we could get the line moving and get in since the groups around us were 5+. He said "it's packed, we're not taking people in for another 15 min, but you can get in if you go in by yourself". So I reasoned with him and said obviously I can't just leave my bf in the cold while I go in, and all I got was "too bad". So I left the place pissed. 3. Overpriced - So the 2nd time, last time, and only time I got in was around 11pm. After another 20 min in the cold in line with a bunch of people in the exact same clothes as each other, my bf and I got into Circle. We were tagged with hospital wristbands then shoved into a narrow foggy hallway where a girl in a booth in the wall asked for $4 for a coat check for the coats that we weren't wearing, and then $20 each for walking the rest of the way down the extremely dim hallway to get in the club. Once you're in the club it's not too bad at first sight. It's a huge warehouse room with a tiny bar on the left side, and tiny lounge area on the far wall which is only for reserved tables. There's 1 row of bleacher like seats that's the "2nd floor", but there was no lighting or design on those areas or the bar to make the place even look remotely upscale or worth more than $50 to install. The main attraction is the one singular tiny dancefloor where everyone's jumping around on and a couple of podiums which either holds gogo girls or a saxophone player (that you can't hear at all over the music). I didn't have a problem with the fog machine because they barely used it that night. But the bar absolutely sucked. There's one bartender, but the bar is only big enough for one, and of course it's packed around it because it's the only piece of land for people to hold onto if they don't want to dance. There's spilled drinks all over the bar that the staff of like 2 people doesn't seem to care to clean up. The bartendar looked like a failed aspiring model that put too much bleach in her hair and doesn't know to take an order from a customer let alone make a real drink. Of the drinks are overpriced around $18 for a short glass of cocktail that's completely watered down. So being stuck in the place that we overpaid for and too sober to enjoy the crappy environment, we're forced to get a chain of shots to at least make the best of it. Since the bar was packed with people ass to ass on each other, we found a empty space by the end corner. Even then there's drunk couples trying to literally hump each other right next to me on the bar. The guy was groping the girl's ass out of her dress while falling over on me. So then my bf  dragged me on the dancefloor before I could stick the stir straw in his eye. The dancing was pretty sad, yes FOBish as expected, no one could really dance, the strobe lights were blindingly bright. There were some pretty hot girls in the place I can say, but most seemed just the normal trashy bunch that were on break from turning their corner trick. There were alot of drunk guys there flailing all over the place none of which were attractive, and the groups of girls mainly stayed to themselves trying to grind with each other. The music was between hip hop, pop, and techno which produced no uniform rhythm from the crowd other than the occasional dumbass trying to do a drunken squaredance taking enough room on the floor for 20 people. The place sucked, I never went back again.
