So this was an interesting night.  I had received a text message from my friend a week ago asking if I was free this Saturday were she to have a bachelorette party, details would follow from her guy friend who was making all the plans.  I then received a text message the night before the party with the address and bar name.  So of course, the first thing I do is head to citysearch and rateclubs to read reviews and check out the dress code. . .when to my surprise this club had been voted the best "same sex singles scene".  Now I have tons of friends who are gay, so on any ordinary night I would be happy to go here. . .but the point of a bachelorette party is to get drunk, have fun and meet guys (isn't this the reason we all go to Vegas).  If there are no guys hitting on you, then who is going to buy the group drinks, right? Getting past the disappointment that I was not going to be meeting my future husband that night, it was definitely an interesting night with entertainment to boot.  After everyone finished eating (which I cannot comment on because I did not partake) we went downstairs to hang out.  There were dances up on the stage - one guy and one girl - doing their thing.  It was a little more R-rated than most clubs I go to, and I was a little surprised that you could actually go up and tuck singles in their underwear.  I felt more like I was at Olympic Gardens than at Goa.  We did venture upstairs to dance, where I was definitely put to shame.  The music was definitely danceable which is a must for me!  The place never seemed to get too crowded, maybe everyone just hung out on the patio all night. All in all it was an entertaining night and I think the bride-to-be had a fun time which is all that matters.

I saw Robin Williams and The National here, which were both very different affairs. I mean after all how can you compare Mrs. Doubtfire to Mr. fucking November? Well, I'll keep it short: the place is probably the best music venue in SF(Indepedent smells and Fillmore looks like a high school gym), the drinks are good, the ambiance is perfect, and the sound system is excellent. Enough said. PS:: They don't accept credit cards, but there is an ATM.

My apartment shared a wall with the Hong Kong, and our windows faced out into the back alley where the Hong Kong's delivery trucks unloaded and the trash was noisily thrown out at 2 am. The apartment always smelled of hot oil intermingled with various fresh and rancid food smells. On weekends our wall vibrated with heavy beats from their second story disco until well after midnight. And no, we never went in. I think I may have been dragged in once...but I'll deny it if you ask.
