Casual, old school gay bar. A bit small an over crowed for my tastes on the weekends, but the regulars here seem vastly pleased with the place so I'll bump in their favor. Pros: reasonable prices, diverse mix of patrons, Cons: small space so it can be overly hot and dirty on busy nights. Well liquored crowd can also be a bits handsy.

It really lives up to it's name: you "end up" at The EndUp The EndUp is a SF institution in more ways than one. (A) It's been around for 30+ years or something like that and (B) if you've ever partied here between 2-6am and stayed you start to feel like you are in an institution. This place is very hit and miss (and unfortunatly it has more "misses" than "hits" particularly during afterhours). Still when this place is on, it is "ON" (example: one night many many moons ago I met a delighful man who was convinced his role in my life was to be my sugar daddy! he insisted on ordering food for me at 4am and bought enough to feed EVERYONE at the bar! we made friends with everyone in the place and I talked so much to so many people that I lost my voice! the catch was I had to remain at the bar to talk to him and order him around while being tied to said bar by a beautiful Armani tie; very friendly guy but I'm not the type who is desperatly seeking a sugar daddy). Oh well..... Here's to waiting line at 2:30 and hoping for the best!

Please allow me to preface this review by admitting that I tried desperately to change my 9am Wednesday class just for Tuesday nights at Star Bar. Unsuccessful, sigh. But that hasn't stopped me! This bar is too much fun! The local musicians are wonderfully talented, and the crowd is crazy and friendly. Little Five Points is a refreshing change from the Buckhead scene. I've been on the weekends though and the atmosphere is less magical. Try Tuesday, I can say with confidence Star Bar is totally worth the Wednesday morning hang over :o)
