Trendy. Nice decor. Not impressed with the food, at all. The lump crab pad thai I ordered was dry and flavorless. Although good for sharing, the shoestring fries were greasy and NOT fries. The lobster mac and cheese was orzo looking rice....which last time I checked orzo was NOT mac and cheese. The top of the dish was good but under the crusty goodness was a flavorless middle. The cheesesteak eggrolls are delish but not a good enough reason to come to this place. The cocktails are over-priced and music selection is not a good fit for such a trendy place. Lasting impression? Im not sure what the hype is all about. Starr failed with this 1...

I've been to Flip a number of times. I love the concept, love the buzz/marketing behind the place, and for the first 6 months that it was open, this was literally the hottest restaurant in Atlanta. With a number of innovative menu options, creative approaches to "shake making", and a few twists on the traditional burger, Flip and it's popular chef have built one heck of a brand really, really quickly. Service is always good hear. The staff takes time explaining burgers, and seem pretty familiar enough to give out recommendations that actually make sense. I have never had a "bad experience" as far as service is concerned. That's not easy to find. I really want to rave about the burgers. While I respect the creativity and effort, I have never been blown away by anything that Flip Offers. In fact, most of the time the experience is "underwhelming" at best. They get the food out quickly....so your not waiting forever. Menu highlights: a) The Fried Okra is one of my favorite things on the menu, and reason enough to take a visit. b) The shakes are tasty, and they have a few really creative flavors, one of them being Krispy Kreme doughnut flavor. c) I think this is a cool spot to take kids. It's different, creative, and fi you get them shake that has CO2 in it, they will love you for life. d) I've had The Lamb Burger which was pretty amazing and tasty and the Southern Burger which a lotta ppl like, but the sauce that's on it, is kinda gross.

Cons: 1. Club-like layout 2. Gamey beef scent (like Peter Luger's) blah! 3. Chain restaurant I don't mind going clubbing every once in a while, but this was a bit much. It seemed the restaurant was too bar-focused and it would have been nice to have a more comfortable environment to dine in for the pricey menu. We started with the tuna tartare, shrimp rice krispies, the $65 seafood assortment, and the lil big mac's. Hands down, the lil big macs are worth coming here to eat while grabbing a drink at the bar. Don't forget to add truffles AND foie gras. Yes, be extravagant! The aforementioned apps were pretty much drowned out my the macs. Onto my entree which is worth trying out if you come here. I am a fairly new fan of sirloins. Fillet Mignon can be too lean and don't absorb as much flavor when cooking. "Sirloin medium-rare with foie gras butter." Why not have foie gras twice in the same meal? Flavor was spot on, texture and marble were a bit fibrous to chew. Perhaps the porterhouse (24 oz) is another option. Maybe I'll come back just for the lil big macs...
