I came here with a friend for a Candela magazine party upstairs in the bar. Later we were VIPed to the Underbar and had a lot of fun. There was a lot of latino songs which was great for those expert dancers to show off their moves. There was even a live performer singing in Spanish a really sweet song that everyone swooned for. It was really spacious downstairs with different areas throwing down cool beats. It all depends on who you're hanging out with because we were taken care of the whole night, so I have no gauge to tell you how expensive drinks, parking, coat check or anything was.

After walking for hours and just stumbling from neighborhood to neighborhood it was surprising to see Earth kind of pop out of no where.  The west side use to be so blah but it's nice to see things making it livable.  I liked the vastness of the menu and I'd go with the earlier thing about being modern Indian.  We sampled a bunch of different things and I'm a wimp about spice but it wasn't bad and if I can tolerate it anyone can believe me.

The Luckie Food Lounge was not as bad as I thought it would be.  I went there for dinner.  There were some good things and some bad things.  In an effort to promote optimism, I will begin with the good: * The Gouda Macaroni and Cheese was tasty.  It was not like southern, custard-y macaroni and cheese but was creamy with a, dare I say, Velveeta-like texture (in a good way) but with a nice Gouda flavor.  And, it was a very large serving. * The fish tacos were not bad at all; in fact, I rather enjoyed them.  It was a big serving of three tacos with Chilean sea bass, shredded cabbage, avocado and a nice sauce.  I liked them. * The service was good at both our table and the bar.  Everyone was very friendly and attentive.  They also split our check for a very large party and didn't complain at all.  Water was refilled quickly and the food was pretty much all brought out at the same time for the entire large party. * They had beer cheese soup as the soup of the day which sounded delicious to me, although I did not try it. * I did not try the sushi but a few people had some rolls (Ichiban, I think) and they all claimed to enjoy them. * Comfortable booth seating * I thought the decor was kinda fun in a tacky, bowling alley sort of way. * The bathrooms were nice and large even though the sinks temporarily stymied me. OK, now the bad: * Non-complimentary valet ($5 for early in the evening and $10 for late night) which, in addition to not being free, was extremely slow.  And, they temporarily lost someone's car. * Pricey drinks - I think the beer was reasonable but I asked for one of the drinks in the big lit-up containers at the bar (a mango mojito) and it was $13.  And, it was mostly ice.  It tasted OK but was way overpriced. * Nasty fried tofu on the Tara's salad.  My friend got this and she was unsure whether to get chicken or tofu so she asked me as she had not tried the fried tofu.  I told her that in my experience fried tofu is very good (I love it - eat it all the time) so she ordered it.  I felt horrible when I saw the salad - the tofu was not nice little fried cubes of tofu but was giant chunks of breaded tofu piled on top of the salad - they looked like fried cod in fish and chips.  The breading was bad and the size was bad because we both happen to not like when otherwise perfectly chopped salads have giant pieces of protein strewn upon them. * It was very loud, even at a normal dinner time when the restaurant and bar were not crowded.  When I left, I was hoarse just from talking to the person next to me. I am not sure if I would go back here - I certainly would not come here to have drinks because there are many better options to get a drink that are not nearly as expensive.  If I was eating and only drinking beer, I might return if someone else wanted to go, but I would not recommend it.  And, I would be careful about what I order.
