by Jons W. on i came here with high expectations, but this place kinda sucks. we each had the 14 course tasting menu and let the chef pick our dishes. all across the board, a huge problem with the food was SALTYNESS!! many of the dishes, but especially the risotto and scallops, were way too salty. mistakes like that are unacceptable for a restaurant of this level. i was also disappointed by the boringness of some of the dishes, like caesar salad, beet salad, hamachi sashimi. best dish was the duck / foiegras / biscuit with orange sauce... 2nd best was the fried snapper (although they slightly F'ed it up by making it too salty) i had much higher expectations for the atmosphere / decor.. everything looks alright, but extremely disappointing for a S+ARCK design. a pleasant surprise was how quickly the courses churned out of the kitchen. this is absolutely the first restaurant ive ever been to where the food arrived before the wine.. the 14 course meal is too much food for the avg person, but in our case it turned out to be just about right b/c they "wasted" a couple courses on 2 salads, 2 cheeses (each slice of cheese is 1 course), and 2 desserts. the next time i go, im just gonna do 11 courses but i'll pick exactly what i want (no salads!!!) FYI: i asked the waiter about the 35 course-$250 "gamut" tasting menu, and he says it still exists.. its not on the menu but you just have to ask for it...
by Vincenzo Hasselkus on This is my FAVORITE restaurant in Philadelphia. Every morsel of food I have eaten from this place is absolute heaven. Their menu changes seasonally, always keeping it fresh, but there are a few staple menu items that are so good, they never go away. Some of my favorites: Grilled Filet Mignon: tender deliciousness with crispy fried onion rings and potatoes au gratin. Stuffed Pork Chop: stuffed with plaintains and drizzled with balsamic. Always juicy and never dry. Macadamia Crusted Salmon: tropical twist on this atlantic fish, with a pineapple glaze and served with rice. Yummmm. There are also plenty of Vegetarian options, including the famous mac & cheese. They also have a lobster mac & cheese (I haven't tried it yet but I'm sure its amazing.) If you're not that hungry the salads are good too, and they offer many sides for a minimal price. The calamari with the sweet chili sauce is a good appetizer. Only con is trying to get a table when they're busy because it's small, but I'm usually willing to wait. Their staff is awesome... friendly, attentive, cool peeps. Also not the best place for a first date or if you need to talk, it can get a bit loud in there. Other than that, the most important part, the food, is ON POINT. Don't miss out!
by Jen K. on A friend of mines suggested this place and the group I went with had gone the night before. It's okay. I shouldn't have to pay $10 for cover but they didn't enforced a dress code and I was in really casual attire. Downstairs there's live music and dancers and upstairs they have a hip hop room (mainstream hip hop not really my type of hip hop) and salsa & reggaeton room. Not sure when Miami's last call is but I left at 4AM and they were still serving drinks. Apparently they don't have the rule of no public smoking in Florida.
