Friday must have been a good night because every thing people said about the vessel was different than my experience. Maybe because we were early ( i hate lines) but I didn't get any static from the bouncers. Me and the GF lined up for 5 minutes and got put in. Cover was 10 bucks each. Free coat check, just do a courtesy tip. Inside I liked the layout with the changing colors. No seats though for regular people... by the end of the night all I want to do was crash on those big bottle service sofas. The bartenders were fast and courteous. Too bad they served shorts for like $11 bucks for mixers. At least they were in glass, not el cheapo plastic dixie cups.  I never had to wait more than 2 minutes to get a drink.  Early on there were a lot of hipsters rolling in. Apparently they were too cool to dance at first, standing around like tools with a drink in one hand and an Iphone in another. No ghetto people or tapout douchebags really.  Later around midnight it got packed, lots of people dancing about . The crowed was mixed which was nice to see. Most of the girls just danced by themselves on top of tables and around the DJ booth. The music was mixed pretty good. However, Michael Jackson died the day before so it was MJ marathon most of the night.  Maybe i'll try again some other night. The crowd went wild for it so i guess it was good to play it.

The decor is romantic, with gorgeous chandeliers and beautiful drapes.  It really has a 70's disco look.  Menu selection is slim, offering only tiny plates, and no meat selections if you're a carnivore.  Pizzas are the size of a small serving dish.  Five pieces of shrimp if you want seafood, and all these plates are $15-20 each.  The dessert chocolate mousse was delicious though.  Definitely have dinner beforehand.  Drinks are overly-priced as well.  For two people, you're bound to spend over $100 just sipping cocktails, plus additional cover charge for an evening of live band and DJ.  The crowd is mid-twenties to over 50's.  The atmosphere and people here are fabulous!  We'd visit here again, but not on a weekly basis.  I still have to check out 'Sunday's a Drag' brunch for a different kind of entertainment.

I'm a little surprised how low some rate one of my favorite places.  I've been here several times (large group bday several years ago, My bday 3 years ago, as 1/2 of a couple several times over the past 2 years). Maybe I'm a little generous when generous boobies are waved in my general direction (er, that could be a *slight* understatement), but I personally consider it to be the best entertainment/strip club in SF - even though the 'girls' don't get nekkid.  Dude, have you ever been to a strip club? $20+ to get in, $10 for crappy drinks & girls hustling you.  And never eat at a strip club (just a little tip from me to you - the things I know about a certain strip club's kitchen...gack).  Compared to that - Asia SF is a star. So DO go here if: -You can afford to pay $60pp for dinner, including tipping the dancers on your tab - drinks ADDITIONAL. -If you love boobies regardless of the bio-body they're attached to -if you have out of town friends who want to see something "really San Francisco" -If you understand that your gorgeous waitress will disapear occasionally because she's going to dance on the bar. -If you can be happily surprised that the food doesn't suck considering it's really not the uh, main attraction ;) Please don't go here if: -If spending over $50 for dinner + entertainment seems insanely extravagant to you. -If being seated REALLY close to table next to you will make you claustrophobic (the place is tiny). -You are homophobic.  If you even THINK you'll be icked that you're turned on by a t-girl, aka formerly a bio-boy, please don' t go here. I love love love asia sf.  Yeah for Hot Chicks - regardless of birth gender!
