A bar that's literally docked on the Hudson = awesome. The decor is minimalist (well, it doesn't need decor because its gimmick is the whole boat thing). The crowd is pretty good too. Lots of well dressed, attractive young people eager to bust out their newest outfit for the Hamptons. That being said, everyone is generally approachable and the place has no pretentious air. Prices are completely reasonable too. It's a full bar, but nearly everyone there gets buckets of Corona ($30 for 6 bottles). The place could easily raise prices across the board $1-$2 and not lose any of its clientele. The Frying Pan is a great place for a beer after work, meeting a friend for a drink, a date, or to spend the afternoon. When the weather is warm, the place does have a tendency to get crowded, so be aware.

I went to an italian party in here and it was amazing, nice place, and eventhough they don't have waiters and you have to grab your own food, its totally worth it just for how good and relaxing environment they provide. Good company or even by yourself!! love it!!

Came here because we couldn't get drinks at Lush Lounge!!! Mary R. and I usually go to Lush Lounge when we want to get our drink on. Well last night we sat at the bar and waited to order our drinks for 15 minutes! GRR. We got up and left when the bartender started taking orders from people who had obviously gotten there after us. Lush Lounge is usually my favorite bar but I don't know WTF was going on last night. So we headed to Vertigo. I've been there once on a weekend and they were charging a cover. There are a ton of bars in Polk Gulch that don't charge a cover so screw that. During the week there's no cover and it's empty as hell. That means we get our cheap strong drinks fast. They're always playing good music and the bartender is awesome. Oh wait, one thing that bugged me--when we gave him $6 for our $4.50 drinks, he took the whole thing instead of putting down the change and letting us tip him. We probably could have just given him $5 and tipped a dollar later but it kinda bugged me that he assumed the tip. Other downside was that since it's dead during the week, I was freezing my ass off. Lush Lounge always feels cozier.
