by Hwa Klomp on A bar that's literally docked on the Hudson = awesome. The decor is minimalist (well, it doesn't need decor because its gimmick is the whole boat thing). The crowd is pretty good too. Lots of well dressed, attractive young people eager to bust out their newest outfit for the Hamptons. That being said, everyone is generally approachable and the place has no pretentious air. Prices are completely reasonable too. It's a full bar, but nearly everyone there gets buckets of Corona ($30 for 6 bottles). The place could easily raise prices across the board $1-$2 and not lose any of its clientele. The Frying Pan is a great place for a beer after work, meeting a friend for a drink, a date, or to spend the afternoon. When the weather is warm, the place does have a tendency to get crowded, so be aware.
by Emma C. on Boyfriend dumped you because he claimed that you had this "funny" smell down there? Well, you're in luck because Hiro's not in the MEATPACKING district for nothing! Come to the meat market on Friday nights and get groped and ogled by midget-esque asian-guido-wannabe types. Still couldn't get groped by 2am? Better yet, stay til the end of the night when the guys are so desperate that if you had a fur coat on and a tail wagging, they'd still take you home. At least $20 at the door got you a night of awkward thrusts by a eager little midget.
by Dovie Ekman on Three words: parmesan truffle fries. Delicious. Other than that, another trendy restaurant that gets lost in the shuffle. Go in, get the $8 fries, and get out before the cheesy crowd drives you crazy.
