Went there last night with 3 girlfriends and it was actually a pretty fun night out.  When walking in we decided to go downstairs to the hip hop area (there's also supposed to be a spanish area upstairs). The music was very good from the getgo and we were dancing almost immediately.  The only issue we had was having to swat a lot of guys away b/c we didn't really go to meet anyone, only to have a good time.  Some of the guys were very desperate, stalkerish almost... and there was definitely some unsolicited rubbing/touching goin' on... So if you are uncomfortable with that, I recommend you do not go; however if you are looking to dance to good music go, however BYOD (bring your own date) :) BTW, not sure if the spanish area is ever any good, but when we ventured up there the dance floor was empty and they weren't even playing spanish music.

My club is having an event at Minx and a huge turnout came. There has to be at least 500 people all jam-packed into a place the size of a condo. I must say- the venue is a bit too small and a bit too crowded- but the decor of the joint is nicely set up, with nice, open lighting. Even though there were people bumping into me (especially that bro that bump into me while holding my drinks) I never felt claustrophobic. The drinks are a bit too pricey, $10 for all drinks sizes, but are well-mixed and are strong. The bartender are chill folks. The valet service is exclusive, quick with your car. And the security there are quick to stop anyone acting up. No need to feel unsafe there.

My dining companion and I had a very nice meal on the porch at XIV tonight, even though I was unable to make a reservation later than 6:45pm when the entire restaurant was empty. Our menu included the following dishes: A caiphirinia A pineapple pimms A hangar pear vodka soda A charbay pomegranate vodka soda Another charbay pomegranate vodka soda The dungeness crab crepe Scallops tempura Porcini risotto Pumpkin dumplings Ocean trout Liberty duck Roasted venison Worcestershire-braised short rib Idiazabal Lemongrass custard It was all totes yummy, but if I were to do it again, I might skip the shortrib.  For us, the highlights were the dessert, the scallops and the venison. I particularly loved the water glasses.  And the exceptional service.
