by s d. on LOVEEE Highlands! Love the music they play, the different rooms, the big dance floors with its multi levels, the people, the vibe, the view, and of course the bar! Girls are usually free, guys are $20, but if you know someone the price drops for guys.
by Rashad Baumfalk on Really nice place with great ambiance and you're definitely paying for the trendiness of the place, but the food was just ok. I was here on a Saturday for my cousin's bday. We had a party of 12 for 8:30 PM reservations. From reading the reviews, I was worried that we were going to have to wait long to be seated, but fortunately it was only about 15-20 minutes. We had the best table in the house, right in front of the big Buddha. Our table also had the tub of rose petals underneath which you could see through the glass tabletop. From the reviews my friends had given me, I already knew the food wasn't going to be that great so my bf and I opted to order dishes where we wouldn't have high expectations and are pretty much good everywhere. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai ($19) and my bf ordered the Tao Lo Mein ($14). We weren't disappointed. The food was good and the service was alright as well, considering it was a busy Saturday night.
by Johnathon Reiner on An institution, like Disco 54 back in the '70s. Music history in the making. There was a time when Mezzanine was the only place in town to see the best electronica - these days Mighty and The independent have inherited Mezzanine's mission. The skinny/infoporn: Mixology is excellent both on stage and at the bar Sounds: state-of-the-art Space: twelve hundred square feet - 2200 square feet for the dancefloor - two levels - on the upper floor you will find mezzanine lounges (makes sense) Look: industrial edgy Extras: multimedia art events, fashion shows and video/film installations - like the 360 initiative with the San Francisco Film Society - simply brilliant check out the blog: http://www.mezzaninemu.../ Track record: I've danced to, among the others, K&D, Tosca (outstanding), DJ Krush, Mark Farina, Peanut Butter Wolf + Mike Relm, Groove Armada, Will Wright (yeah, the creator of SimCity, The Sims, and Spore - go figure) Crowd: diverse, interesting, eclectic and electric. During a gig you will most likely see: The lone girl who's standing next to the stage, mesmerized, barely moving, possibly in a state of trance. Don't wake her up! It could be dangerous. The lone guy who's texting incessantly on his BlackberryPhone. By the time the evening is over, he will suffer from a sore thumb. According to some internet sources, he's typing James Joyce's "Ulysses" (unabridged version) just to prove that a) it can be done and b) he's a really popular and busy guy. Don't interrupt him! The lovely couple trying to have a "real" conversation right next to the speakers. They're shouting like crazy, nodding frantically, smiling and yet not understanding a single word they are exchanging. It must be love. Don't interfere. The ethnographer who's sitting by himself @ the bar, sipping a stoli vanilla on the rocks, looking at the crowd and smiling idiotically. He's writing in his mind a full report for rateclubs and feeling so "useful", "cool" and "funny". Don't tell him he needs to get a life.
