Used to love this place, but it has gone so downhill that it's sad. First, they have a parking lot that used to have actual people you pay, but they replaced them with a machine that you insert money into to lift the gate. Not a big deal if the machine actually worked properly. It's so finicky about the bills it takes that the line of cars waiting to get in the parking lot was horrendous. Very tacky for a supposedly "upscale" restaurant. Inside is unbelievably crowded. I mean, you can't walk down the aisles without accidentally elbowing diners in their heads. Once you sit down, you get hit by other diners and staff constantly. The lack of personal space is so ridiculous. I'm a city gal and I'm used to being a little cramped, but for what you're paying here, I expected to dine in peace without getting bumped left and right. And probably because everyone is so close the whole place is SO LOUD. Good luck trying to have a conversation without making yourself "that guy" who talks too loud and is inconsiderate, but if you don't, you might as well not bother trying to talk to your date. The food is not that great for the price. Seriously, the only thing I would recommend is the lobster bisque - it's absolutely to die for! But the rest of the menu is medicore. I've had better fish, steaks, potates, crab cakes, sliders - at places like The Capital Grille. The service was terrible. The restaurant should be embarassed at how this server worked. She forgot to bring things, she never refilled our table's waters until we had to ask. I don't mean to sound snooty, but this place tries to present itself as upscale dining, and if we're paying like $70 per person, my expectations are higher. So bottom line folks, waste of money. Philadelphia offers many places to eat - don't bother here.

Yes, my friends and I actually made a day trip to Philly from Ithaca just to grub. The highlight of the trip was supposed to be Delilah's but for lunch we did the Pat's vs. Geno's bit. I don't really like Philly Cheesesteaks but I approach eating like it's my business (which it sort of is considering my major) and eating a cheesesteak in Philly, blah blah blah. I didn't set great expectations but I figured Philly and its sandwiches had to raise my impressions of cheesesteaks by a notch or two. Turns out not so much. We tried Geno's first. The place looks newer than Pat's but it looks like a Harley Davidson dealer. The line was all the way out into the street but it moved pretty quickly. My friends and I split the cheez whiz one and got a racist pen as a bonus...Double yuck. Might as well call it clogged arteries topped with disgrace-to-all-real-cheese with a supersized side of bigotry. Everything about this experience was distasteful.
