Him: Snowbear too fun? Her: Lighter and peanuts. Him: Youth habanero root pine? Her: Ya. Wobbly sue? Him: Ya. I'm pretty sure I overheard this conversation last night at Cream. And by overheard, I mean I couldn't really hear it at all, even though it happened 6 inches from my head. This brings up three questions: 1) Why was a conversation six inches from my head? 2) How am I not sure what I heard? 3) What does it mean? In order, here are my responses: 1) This place is small. At this point, there's not much they can do about it so you just have to know that when more than a few dozen people get in to the place, it's gonna be tight and you're going to press the flesh. Not my favorite feeling, but if you're into it then welcome home. 2) This place is loud. Painfully loud. Screechy, thumpy, no-longer-enjoyable loud. Tiny space with speakers for a large hall. Don't even think about trying to have a conversation, ask someone their name, or report a fire. And just pray the bartender gets your order right. 3) I've ran the convo through my mind a few times and this is what I've got: Him: So where you from? Her: Right here in Phoenix. Him: You having a good time? Her: Ya. What about you? Him: Ya. So very not my scene, but if you spend more time tanning and at the gym every week then you've ever spent reading a newspaper in your life, you'll be right at home at Cream. Bring your pal Ed Hardy but don't expect much conversation. You: Mime a whoosh tag!

Granted, those two stars are only after one visit, so that could of course change in the future. I have friends who've always enjoyed this spot, but I found the vibe a little off for me last night. I can say that I did really love how friendly all the staff was, from all the bouncers/doormen to all the girls serving up libations. Everyone was so pleasant. This place definitely doesn't have a stuck up attitude, but in exchange, it has a bit of a lax feel. As a girl who doesn't go out to clubs all that often, I truly enjoy getting a little dolled up and donning those special earrings for a good time out. I was disappointed to find how casual this place was, but happy to see a diverse crowd. I love that you can go in and out and the drinks were pretty strong... however, the $6 shots really aren't much alcohol, so don't put too much money into those. The music centers on hip hop... a little old and a little new, but not all mainstream stuff. I'm not a hip hop fan really, but I'll go out and dance to most things. What was fun was the guy who ends up joining with the DJ... he's like an active side dish of fun. Parking is $7 cash and you do get in's and outs.

I'm being WAYYY to generous by giving Suede a one star, because they don't even deserve a star at all! What the hell happened to Suede? It used to be a somewhat nice venue with a diverse group, but when I went there last Saturday for a friend's bday, that was soooo NOT the case. The place was packed with Asian FOBs...they all looked like they just arrived to the US the night before. Being an Asian myself, I'm not being a racist.....I just felt like I didn't belong at Suede and felt extremely out of place. The worst part was that there was a big, fat bouncer standing on top of the stage right next to the dance floor the WHOLE time. That was lame. Suede sucked ass and it was a waste of a cute outfit. BOOOOOOOO!
