i'm at a 3.5 and gave it a 3 because the food sucks however, if you want to get sloshed on a sunday morning and dance your heart out, this is the place to be. (all on a sunday for brunch) the first time i went, bottomless mimosas were $6 + tax (what a steal).  i had a great time and we went right when they opened so we didn't have to wait. the second time, they were $12.  my suggestion would be to go bottomless and skip out on food or share with someone else. the third time, i decided not to drink and was miserable.  the wait was more than an hour and food was plain jane (haha, it's a name of a dish). party on

The space here is right up my alley. Visually stimulating and confusing all in one. For a chick who lives on the verge of her left and right brain at all times, it was comforting in a 'not-making-sense' kinda way. The lounge is plush and seems like it'd be one of those stuck-up joints with yuppies n shit. But, then you take a lil jaunt into the art exhibit area, where the art ranges from a barrel of emo monkeys to a gigantic crow eating a paper mache human. This place totally tweaked my melon and I loved every moment. I was here for a private event, which, I must say if you need a venue to throw an event that can hold up to 250 peeps, you should most definitely consider Project One. The bartenders were AWESOME! Complete with good tales, heavy pours and great hair..they really helped us pull of a successful event and I thank them both for their help & entertainment. :) I never ask for newsletters from artsy places, because I usually hate that crap. But, I am most definitely going to get on some sort of e-mail list to keep abreast of the events going on here, I could definitely hang out here more often.

If there's a fire, you're probably going to die. Especially if you're here for The Moth. Especially if you're in the balcony. Especially if you blew too much money on bottom shelf wine, served in a plastic cup for $6 a pop, and are half-drunk, wedged into a sea of poetry slamming, storytelling, moderately hostile New Yorkers. I think the Nuyorican Poets Cafe can be summed up by the following story: once, at The Moth, a man passed out while seated on stage, and his place was immediately seized by the woman standing directly next to him. And this was while he was still on the floor and the staff was scrambling to clear the insanely crowded room so the paramedics could get through. The man ultimately regained consciousness after a few terrifying minutes and, unbelievably, walked to the microphone and told a quick tale about his lengthy history of fainting. He then disappeared into the streets of the Lower East Side. And, naturally, the show went on. Welcome to New York.
