I came here at 2 in the morning on a friday night with a guy friend of mine and we had a great time. The door bs was kept to a minimum (we both got in without cover, being well dressed charming, good looking and fun does have its advantages). The staff was cool and had in my mind the perfect amount of people. It was filled without being packed, easy to order drinks, there were places to sit without having to get bottle service. The crowd was attractive and clearly out to have fun. I also came here with some friends and got bottle service here on a Sunday about six months ago. The Sunday scene was way more packed, but still really fun, though in a more conventional club way. As some of the other reviewers mention, the decor is a little over the top, but so what, its clubbing in new york after all. Bottom line, if you are interested in more upscale venues GoldBar is definitely worth trying. If you want to be able to talk come on a Friday or Saturday, if you just want to party sunday is your day.

My first visit here was to see a friend, the amazing Tessa Souter, last night. As with most clubs I've been in (except the wonderful Dizzy's at Time Warner Center), you really get packed in like sardines here. The service is pretty good, the food we had was delicious, but very expensive, as were the drinks. Again, pretty consistent with most jazz/cabaret clubs. However, it's clean and nicely laid out, and definitely worth going to hear the incomparable Ms. Souter. Seems Chuck Mangione is going to be there later this month .... may be worth a return trip. Luckily, beyond the fee for the music, there's only a $5 or $10 charge per person at the table (rather than that two-drink minimum thing that a lot of places have, who then charge you $6 for a diet coke).

They had an event here on a Saturday night: flip a coin, if you guess right, your drink is free. I was lady luck that night.. I didnt spend a dime. photo booth = cool nice bartenders= cool bathroom with one way mirror= cool people thrashing to jungle/trance in 1998 rave clothes, making a spectacle of themselves= not cool weird guy that tried to pretend he was from london then tongued my friend with force= very not cool/creepy I wasnt into the music at this club- jungle/trance in my opinion has never been the best catalyst for a fun mood. If they didnt have free drinks I would have left a lot earlier than I did. Still, i'll give it another whirl.
