The first time I ever came here I had a great time. It was crowded but not packed, with a crowd that was attractive without being pretentious or over-dressed. It was nice going to a place where jeans, t-shirt and sneaks were acceptable dressed as long as all the aforementioned were cool. I've come back since and my experience has been more mixed. Some days it has been really fun, some days it has been completely dead. One note, it definitely attracts more than its fair share of LI and NJ kids. Overall, worth a try on a Friday or Saturday, otherwise probably smart to steer clear.

Bob's should've been my very, very first rateclubs review, but I wasn't on rateclubs while I was at Bob's every Thursday getting drunk, dancing to the best hip-hop & R&B, while gettin my mack on back in the day. I would say from about 2004-2006, my friends and I would literally go to Bob's every Thursday night and occasional Fridays/Saturdays. This was when I had over 30 pairs of sneakers, artsy tees, and going out on a Thursday night at 11pm and drinking hard with my crew knowing we all had corporate office work the following morning was normal. We owned the place Thursday nights. Our friend Vince was a bartender there and Malik was our man in the front, who never charged us $5 door cover no matter what time we came in. Malik's black 5-Series BMW is nice too, always parked out in the front. Now, Steve, the big diesel Asian dude, I believe still bartends there. He's a cool chill dude. There was a period back in the day where Bob's was the only NY bar where I felt like Norm Peterson from Cheers. NORM!!! You should see my photo albums on my hard drive or on Ofoto, they're all from Bob's. The good ol' days... http://img.photobucket... Where else can you get your drink on and stand up and dance to Mobb Deep or old school EPMD. They play all my favorite music from the 90's. Sorry Bob's, I don't go back as often as I should. I may be getting older and fall asleep at 11pm now on Thursdays nights, but you'll always be my favorite place in NY to drink and dance to hip-hop. I feel so old now... This place is purrrrrrfect for taking someone who you just can't work the nerve to get freaky with because it is so damn crowded that you have no choice but to end up bumpn' & grindn'. However, if ur trying to look for a place that u can dance w/ your friends AND be able to sit & have a drink - this place ain't it! Speaking of getting drinks, I thought my man ditched me cause he took so damn long. Now the crowd is generally mellow and the music is pretty cool though it did use to play more international world music. Overall, the place is cool especially if you want to get your freak on.
