by Monika Roome on At the last minute, my sister picked this place for her girls only birthday dinner and it was fantastic! Thankfully, we made a reservation Saturday morning (and added more people throughout the day) with no problem. Our server was really friendly and we had a pretty large group of picky girls and he navigated through our drink and food orders like a pro and even surprised us by providing separate checks at the end of the meal, so we didn't have to mess with it! Usually an avid wine drinker, I decided to be adventurous and try something off the cocktail menu. I had a Yellow Roses to start and it was the perfect drink for a summer night. The lavender-infused vodka was sweet and the lemon made the drink light and fresh. I got a little more daring on my second drink, trying the Fancy...it has egg whites in it, so I was a little scared, but it was also delish! These people know how to make a good drink! I had the duck confit pizza as my meal (really good, but really salty and the dough was a little too doughy) and we split the mac and cheese and spaetzle - both melt in your mouth, I have to have another spoonful right this second amazing. The sides are perfect for splitting among people and were rich enough that you only needed a couple bites to feel satisfied. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better low key girls night out birthday celebration (that didn't break the bank) and I will be back here time and time again to try out more cocktails!
by Jana Rubbo on Since I moved to the area several years ago, all I have heard is Delux Burger has the best burgers in Phoenix. Not so fast. I went there with a co-worker who had been there before for lunch. When we arrrived, I knew this place was not all that I was led to believe. I had imagined it as a big juicy sloppy burger on a sesame seed bun. This was not the case. I got the delux burger. The burger was relatively small, with no topping or ingredients besides a few onions, on some type of french roll hard crispy sandwhich bread. I was very dissapointed. The fries were good however, All in all I spent $24 dollars at this place for a burger (well we had a beer too). I was so mad that i spent this much for a burger that I didn't get over it for weeks, and actually am not over it still. Over-rated and over-priced, for real.
by David H. on 5 or 6 guys at the door not letting anyone in. I walked up to the guy in a suit cause he looked like he was in charge. He asked "Don't I know you from somewhere?" My response is "I'm in from the West coast, I own restaurants and bars out there" Asked me who I was with and we were in the door. The place was packed at 1:30 on a Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. Made our way to the bar and paid $11 for an absolut soda that might have had half an ounce. I even followed my rule of tipping big on the first drink so it cost me $15 with tip. Made sure I went back to the same bartender for drink number two and actually got a decent cocktail. The crowd wasn't too bad--young and good looking. I was told to go to Marquee on Tuesday because thats when the locals and industry folks make it out. I could imagine how much worse the place would be with a bunch of out of towners filling the place. 2 djs spinning. The music was alright--typical club stuff. Overall a decent place, but the attitude at the door and the ridiculous drink prices get Marquee a 3.
