This is a review for the bar/lounge. I saw mixed reviews for this place on rateclub but went ahead and tried it anyway on a Saturday night. I should have known that a restaurant turned into a nightclub-esque lounge in the Mission can't be all that classy. The music was strange and dance floor was empty. Went upstairs to check out the rooftop deck which had a pretty nice view, but which was also filled with sleazy guys. The drinks were gross- little alcohol, lots and lots of ice and syrup, in little plastic cups. Probably one of the worst mojitos I've ever had in this city. There is a $10 cover charge, which made this experience even worse and the rating to drop to one star. I think that the place could be better if you were strictly going for the view + restaurant, since there probably isn't a "cover charge" for the seating upstairs.

Bob's should've been my very, very first rateclubs review, but I wasn't on rateclubs while I was at Bob's every Thursday getting drunk, dancing to the best hip-hop & R&B, while gettin my mack on back in the day. I would say from about 2004-2006, my friends and I would literally go to Bob's every Thursday night and occasional Fridays/Saturdays. This was when I had over 30 pairs of sneakers, artsy tees, and going out on a Thursday night at 11pm and drinking hard with my crew knowing we all had corporate office work the following morning was normal. We owned the place Thursday nights. Our friend Vince was a bartender there and Malik was our man in the front, who never charged us $5 door cover no matter what time we came in. Malik's black 5-Series BMW is nice too, always parked out in the front. Now, Steve, the big diesel Asian dude, I believe still bartends there. He's a cool chill dude. There was a period back in the day where Bob's was the only NY bar where I felt like Norm Peterson from Cheers. NORM!!! You should see my photo albums on my hard drive or on Ofoto, they're all from Bob's. The good ol' days... http://img.photobucket... Where else can you get your drink on and stand up and dance to Mobb Deep or old school EPMD. They play all my favorite music from the 90's. Sorry Bob's, I don't go back as often as I should. I may be getting older and fall asleep at 11pm now on Thursdays nights, but you'll always be my favorite place in NY to drink and dance to hip-hop. I feel so old now... Is the absolute best bar in Los Angeles for this type of entertainment. Bring as many fiends as possible, you will be frisked at the door, and the table of very bad boys next to you...well they really are and they really will mess with you...so keep tipping the girls and be friendly. Everyone is having a good time. My recommendation, get a booth along the wall, bring dollars, go and have fun, get a girl to dance and crawl on your table, but get out after the second drink before you think the girls really do like you, or the bad boys try to heist your dates.
