Alright, so this place gets 5 stars for ambiance. The decor is extremely well done, very modern, very hip, it's definitely my style. The fireplace and the lounge area are particularly cool. The drinks however, are extremely poorly mixed. I ordered a Mojito, what I got was a failed chemistry experiment. It was god awful. I went with Amanda S. and a friend of hers, we all got mojitos and they were all that bad. So, if you're going here, get something that they cannot possibly fuck up. Rum and Coke. Champagne. Wine. Pretty much anything that has a sealed container protecting it from the bartenders. When we went, we ordered a quesadilla. Now, you would think ordering a quesadilla is as simple as saying "uh, I want a quesadilla". At Sugar Cafe, it was actually an elaborate five step process. Step 1) Order the quesadilla. This is pretty standard, Amanda ordered a quesadilla. Step 2) Confirm that you ordered a quesadilla. Fifteen minutes later the waitress comes to our table to confirm that we actually ordered a quesadilla. Confirmation given. Step 3) Check on your quesadilla. Thirty minutes later, I went to check on the quesadilla, and was told that it was "in the oven". Step 4) Receive bad news about your quesadilla. As you can imagine, unless you are making a very large quesadilla, or cooking with an easybake oven, 30 minutes is a bit much. We were informed that the quesadilla was burnt, and would be remade. To be fair, we were offered a bread/humus plate as an apology, which was appropriate. Step 5) Actually receive a quesadilla an hour after ordering it. After our epic adventure that rivaled Lord of the Rings for length, we did, in fact, receive a quesadilla. So, the bottom line is, this is a cool place to go, drink champagne or wine, and chill with cool people. It's pricey, but it really does look cool, and if they have good coffee, you could do worse. I would probably take a girl here after a date.

Why are there so many baby dykes up in this piece? Seriously, I feel like I'm hanging out with a bunch of teenaged boys. Watch out for straight couples on the prowl for their fantasy threesome. PUKE They supposedly do a fun karaoke night, but I've never been.

Hip and popular club in the basement of the maritime hotel. Huge space with vaguely Asian/Japanese decor fits with more or less what you'd expect for a trendy, upscale venue. Also used as a live event or concert space at times. Expect a line and long waits from Thurs through Sat night.
