According to Dr. P, the Guggenheim has been doing nights like these for a long time and it's always much more crowded than it was the night we checked out Nightlife. So be it, we're in SF not NYC. I had a good time checking out the rainforest and aquarium and was bummed to miss the planetarium. There were some interesting things happening in some of the more secluded areas. The food in the cafeteria was decent and drinks were inexpensive. I'll be back soon.

Have you ever seen "The L Word?" OK, forgetting the fact that it's set in LA, where apparently everyone is gorgeous (this is only partially true, having recently returned from there) and rich, all the lesbian characters are so amazing that most straight girls would go gay for the day for a few hours of "alone time" with these ladies. But alas, that is a TV SHOW and this is PHILADELPHIA, where the lesbian community seems to be still finding their identity. This is how I feel about Sisters. I've gone many times, and every time I expect it to be different (isn't that the definition of insanity or something?). But each time I go I witness a sea of unfriendly faces, scary artwork, long waits for drinks and dance music that sounds straight outta the USSR circa 1991. I want to like it. I really, really do. But my experiences there have been less than "sisterly." I'd love to go back with a bunch of people I knew so I didn't feel like such a complete ass just for being there.

NOTE: This review is strictly based on using this space as an event space for a Semi-Formal event. In that case, this is an EXCELLENT space to plan an event. They have great party planners to assist with all of the details. They have three bars, so if you have a group with a ton of drinkers, which I did, people won't have to wait in line very long. There is plenty of room for dancing, a buffet, sitting and eating, standing and drinking, and even some darker areas for making out... Additionally, they will supply a DJ who will play whatever type of music you want. We held a semi-formal event on a Thursday. We had a four hour open bar and a hot buffet. Everyone had a great time. The space is really big and there was so much room for everyone. Additionally, the price for the open bar I believe was about $60/ person for top shelf, which is ridiculously cheap. And, believe me everyone drank their money's worth. They appropriately staffed all of the bars so that there weren't any issues. They even supplied a coat check as the event was held during the winter. I don't have anything bad to say about planning a party here, it's a great event space. That said--if you want to come here on another night, read the other reviews.
