I made an account just to write about this piece of shxt. Whoever "bought out" and "re-did" 181 needs to get punched in the face. Not only is it hideous now, but THEY ARE FALSE ADVERTISING AND NEED TO TAKE THE DAMN OLD PICS OF 181 OFF THE WEBSITE. Its disgusting now !! Honestly, 181 is the new NV thats over on Howard. GROSS ! Its so dark in there, hot as hell still.. but not even worth a damn! They are CHARGING $10 for mixed drinks that are in little PLASTIC DIXIE CUPS. Go to hell 181. Completely ruined my birthday & is now SF's new prized PIECE OF SHXT club. Officially NOW, there isn't any club in SF that I feel is worth the hassle.. I don't care to talk about race and all that other BS on here.. but 181 used to be crackin, hard. Anyone who has been to 181 around last fall knows how good it used to look and if you've been there recently.. your probably as pissed as I was on Saturday.. They are abusing the two floors and trying to confuse everyone by throwing two different parties.. one being "private" yet they still took my friend's money and refused to give her a refund.. and the other was for the "guestlist" that closed as we were walking up THE DAMN STAIRS. Fxck 181.. its a piece of tenderloin GARBAGE.. GOOD JOB TO THE NEW "owners" !! [EDIT] WOW and they are thieves !! They TOOK an EXTRA $5 from my boyfriend's bank account because he didn't tip the stupid ass bartenders for those dumb ass microscopic drinks. FXCKING CROOKS !! DO NOT GO TO 181 STRAIGHT UP !

The Local is my work-group's PayDay Friday hang out. There is nothing more delightful than being greeted at the door by our excellent server Steve with the words, "Pitcher of Newcastle?" The service, even when packed, is great. The draft beer selection is fine, and the food is decent to tasty. Plus, free popcorn, a photobooth and the internet jukebox? Yes, please. Summer time is a great time to grab a coveted spot on the porch, and if you're feeling randy, you can always jog across Ponce for a little ink @ Liberty Tattoo. We have had excellent experiences whether it is just me and a quiet friend or me and 19 of my most obnoxious friends. A fun place for karaoke, trivia or special nights like Halloween. Its proximity to other places like MJQ, Drunken Unicorn and the Bookhouse also make it a destination for long nights.

I was really surprised by the space - it's actually very cool. I was expecting a divey, dirty club, but they actually put effort into making it have a unique edge. The club has exposed brick walls and the entire place is accented with antique style mirrors and chandeliers...you actually get transported to a different place. Check-out their website since the event/scene changes nightly.
