There's a few things you can expect when going to Whole Foods: it's expensive (of course), it's going to be jam-packed, and they have an amazing selection of wonderful food and drinks. If you can deal with the prices (and if you're doing your grocery shopping here, you obviously can), the quality is there. Four stars goes to these guys because of a recent experience. We (the girlfriend and I) went in to get some of their amazing gourmet hamburger patties and the fixings for a weekend cook-out. As usual, it was packed with people but I've found that the people that shop here tend to be more accommodating and polite that your run-of-the-mill HEB shopper. As with any grocery store, there are kids running about but not the white trash and ghetto variety of uncivilized hellions that I've seen at cheaper markets. On this occasion, we found everything that we needed and then some. We get to the counter and we find out that my girl had forgotten her checkbook. I groan but the cashier, without missing a beat, takes our name and labels all of our bags and lets us know that we can return to get them as he'd have them put in the freezer. When we return, I assume this is going to be a long and tedious process (I was expecting HEB level customer service). We get to the counter, the cashier (a different person but equally adept) has our order retrieved in a few minutes (!) and we're out the door in five minutes flat. The food was great but the service was far and away the best I have ever had at any grocery store or market. There are many that will deride this business because of their perceived corporate interests, and that's fine, but I reward outstanding service and I've consistently gotten that at this location. I would like to point out that this is an excellent place to people watch while eating some tasty fare at any of the store's cafes. Also, the location is situated close to several places that I like including Book People and Waterloo Records.

I can't believe I paid $14 for a shitty cranberry vodka. $16 when I told them to hold the ice. So I thought this place was supposed to be all beach-y and awesome (kind of like Uncle Fattys in Chicago where its a luau every day complete with sand) but its pretty much like any other club. They must let ANYONE in because there were craploads of butt-ugly people dancing on the stand. On the bright side, there is an AMAZING techno-violinist who plays here. Super gorgeous asian girl putting her years of classical musical education into a violin rendition of "Sexy-back". Oh and apparently lawyers hang here. I met a bunch. From Austrailia.

Great place to see shows on the weekend. Tighten Up Wednesdays are the best mid-week activity downtown. Blah blah hipsters blah blah.
