I loved this place. After reading all about it on rateclubs, friends and I decided to head there early on a Saturday afternoon. Since I had heard it got crowded we made sure to get there at a decent hour so our party of 7 would be able to have tables. Arrived around 1:30 to an empty scene. Not even two hours later it was quite the opposite. My friends all had food. They ranted about the delicious fries, ribs, and the goat cheese salad. I on the other hand only participated in the drinking fesitivites that afternoon. Pitchers of sangria were amazing. For my beer drinking friends, the bucket of Coronas was the way to go.

Worth coming for: Décor I love the dramatic but cozy décor and the cute couches. Presentation XIV deserves five stars for presentation. I love the idea of small plates that are individually portioned!! It's like tapas without the feeling of "Who is going to start?" or "How much do I take?" or "Who's going to eat the last of it?"...maybe I just think too much or that's the Asian in me. Service Some people might think the service is slow, but I actually like the time in between dishes. It gives you time to enjoy the dish AND to digest before attacking the next one. They were also very accommodating for my friend who is allergic to all things nuts. They created the same dishes minus the nuts and placed it on a different shaped dish. Allow the Chef to Select My girlfriends and I had the light meal of eight dishes. We like this because it takes the thinking of out ordering and the waitress doesn't have to come back a million times to take our order when we haven't looked at the menu because we are too busy talking. Plus, none of us has to take the blame for choosing something bleh. Savory Selections Overall, I enjoyed the six savory dishes. My favorites were the ahi tuna tartar and the truffled mac and cheese (Jidori chicken). I can get these dishes at many other restaurants, but like I said, it's the lovely presentation that won me over. Not so much: Sweet Selections I was so disappointed with the two dessert dishes! The first was a lemongrass custard with sweet potato-yuzu mochi. I am all about twists on traditional dishes, but the custard and the mochi were not to my liking. We were more excited about the next dessert being chocolate. But, I cannot even remember what it was...all I know is I left it on my plate unsatisfied. Parking $16 for unnecessary valet parking. You drive into the parking lot and they actually backtrack a few yards to park your car in the huge empty lot. Really?? I can do that myself. Switzerland (or Sweden á la Jessica Alba): Price Sure, it's expensive but come on now people, this is Hollywoooood! We came here for a nice girls' night out. It was actually LESS than we expected because of the money saved with the Allow the Chef to Select meal. While this isn't on my list of places I have to go to again before I die, I wouldn't mind coming back, as long as I can choose my desserts (the mozzarella ice cream intrigues me..).

Going to Saint on Friday nights is like entering The Land of the Cougars. But the music's not bad and if you're on the guest list, girls are free before 11:30pm and guys are $10, I think. There's also never really been much of a line outside, which I appreciate and their drinks are pretty strong, especially the long islands. My friends and I went once at 9pm under the impression that we'd all (guys and gals) would get in for free cuz that's what the promoter told us, but there was some miscommunication cuz the guys still ended up busting out their wallets. The place was like a ghost town at 9, with the bartenders walking around in sneakers. Was pretty funny and we ended having a pretty good time that night. One thing I love about Saint: they have lychees at the bar so not only do I get my favorite lychee martini, but I can sneak a few to pop in my mouth while I wait. Hee^2.
