When I lived in Park La Brea, Busby's was a decent go to spot. It was walking distance and could satisfy all my needs, i.e. sports, dancing and booze... It kind of has a split personality in that one side has TVs, billiards, etc., while the other is mainly a dance floor and stage. It's a unique and interesting dynamic, that somehow works well. Oh, and if you smoke (I don't), you'll probably spend a ton of time outside with all the other smokers - at least you'll have company.

Great place to see a a little show and grab a cocktail. The bartenders are dressed in bordello attire and the decor matches well, with deep reds and old furniture and chandeliers. The cover was $5, some band named "The Movies" was having a celebration for their new CD, but I came for "The Happy Hollows". It's a small venue so if you go to see a show you'll probably get to see the artist up close. The people who went there seemed like a friendly crowd and the bathrooms were clean. Nice atmosphere, fun place to see a show. 4 Stars.

I went to Boys Noize here the other night and it was f%$#ing AWESOME. Overcrowded and overrun with youngin's falling over totally smashed, the security guys are really cool about keeping everyone safe and not being total assholes. I give them a lot of credit for what they have to deal with.

What a wonderful gorgeous musical palace!... suited for all kings & queens. (I'll take the Fillmore or the Independent over GAMH anyday, but thats mostly for location reasons) Anyway, GAMH is like the Taj Mahal...I feel so regal and want to be wearing a giant gold studded, glittery gem filled tiara..but I've learned dancing in one is a challenge, so i leave it at home. All music sounds great here, it's kinda hard to see the bands, as I never get as close as I hope to. I despise the side areas filled w/ tables. No one is ever sitting here, it's just a huge roadblock area. The drinks are mighty strong, and not a hassle even with a small bar & a sold out show. Also, make eyes with someone important (check hairstyles) & get backstage. I'll tell ya, thats where the magic happens.
