"You went on rateclubs to find a club?!" As my girls and I were visiting LA from the Bay, we didn't what the "happening" clubs were and My House was one of the recommended clubs by a friend's friend. Of course we're going to rateclubs the place to check out the crowd and what people have to say about the venue. As it seemed like a good place, my girls and I decided to make our way to Hollywood Blvd this past Saturday night. LINE: More like lack of!! As we knew we would be paying, we lagged and even got stuck in traffic at 11pm (welcome to LA right?), we arrived at about midnight. We were told by security to stand on the grass area inside the entrance area. As we walked in to our surprise, there wasn't a line, it was a crowd of people standing to get in. My friend said it looked like they were herding cows. Tip: You will need at least a 1:1 guy to girl ratio. If you're with a group of guys, good luck getting in...OR you could pay security off, as one security guard was expecting a group of guys to "shake his hand" to get in. COVER: $20 - I know there's a Friday night guestlist, I'm not sure about Saturday nights CROWD: As we walked into the entrance line area, immediately I noticed that the crowd was ALL Asian. Umm...what happened to the mixed crowd? rateclubsers mentioned this was a mixed crowd, maybe this is true for Friday, but NOT for Saturday. The crowd was mostly fobby and it urked me how people were screaming next to me in Chinese. Being from the Bay, apparently I missed the following memos: *Manpris (Man capris) are in style *Gold sneakers on women are cool *Harijuku clothing is stylish * Swaying on dance platforms is the thing to do - you two girls are lucky I was sober or else I would've gotten up there and showed you how we do it in the Bay *The SODA platform sandals from 1996-97 are back in fashion *Stilettos are not cool (as I was the only one in 5.5 inch heels) VENUE (the entire reason I'm giving 4 stars): My House is absolutely stunning! From the front of the venue, it looks like the entrance to a modern home. As you walk in, there is the living room which includes couches and tables for bottle service, a bar, and a decent size dance floor. Up a couple steps is another level which included tables for bottle service, a fireplace and the kitchen area which had a stove as a bar counter and the sinks contained ice for drinks. On this level is also the side patio for smokers (which is CROWDED), a bar, and additional tables for bottle service. Upstairs is the bedroom where there is yet another bar (which wasn't open when we were there), a bed, additional tables for bottle service, and even a Jacuzzi (you're not allowed to go in). You could view almost the entire club from the bedroom/stair area. DRINKS: Expect to pay $14 or so per drink...and expect the bartenders to take down your ID/license number if you pay by credit PARKING: $15 valet lot next to My House Because of the beautiful concept of the venue, I would return. I would return on a Friday, not a Saturday, as I prefer a mixed crowd. Oh yeah, a special note to that guy who came up to me and started brushing arm on the patio area. WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?! You're lucky I didn't punch you out on the spot, you don't go around doing that to people!

How many places in sf can you go party and look at really legit art ? Not a whole lot. Sometimes this place is too loud to talk but all in all they get great art shows here and I like it.

This is one of my least favorite places for live music in Los Angeles. Everytime I go here, I feel like everyone's in a hurry to get the bands offstage so they can have a dance club night -- even if there isn't one. And drinks are kinda pricey and it insists on attempting a swank, upscale atmosphere even though it's kind of a crummy old building. The sound is OK, but they seem to turn on the house lights a LOT during a performance (this happened to me there during Soundtrack of Our Lives, Golden Smog and Hold Steady shows), which is extremely annoying when you're trying to watch a band. And parking is oviously crummy. Dude, I feel bad saying all this. I'm a bad rateclubser. Sorry.
