I went here for my friend's birthday.  I haven't had any experience dining here. I only went in the evening for a birthday party.  It was actually a nice place. Cool ambiance. Nice outside patio area as well as a spacious inside area to dance. The reason this place gets a 2 is for a rude pretentious bar tender, named Eric. Before we headed to this place we had  been pre-partying at a friend's house drinking shmirnoff and soda. When we got to the bar, we thought we would stick with the same vodka. The bartender said "We have anything but Shmirnoff" So, we asked for a list of what he did have or perhaps a suggestion - he repeated "anything but Shmirnoff"  Well, Excuuuuuuuse us! Sorry for being such a poor loser!  Later in the night he also acted put off to get us a glass of water. Is it wrong to hydrate and try to avoid a hangover? The rudeness just continued.... So when it came time to pay the tab, my fiance didn't think this guy deserved a big tip. I mean, all he did was pour a little vodka, take a cap off a beer, and act like a bastard. Aren't people in the service industry supposed to EARN their tip?? Then the guy calls us out in front of everyone for not giving him a large enough tip. It's too bad this bartender sucked so much, because the place was really nice and we had a fun night....  With that kind of atmosphere this guy could have gotten a nice tip from us if he had a little friendliness and some class.

This place has a warm, sexy, vibe, with a comfortable lounge-y area that segues nicely into the dance floor. Loved the antler-esque chandeliers; the portraits of young, promiscuous ingenues; and reddish lighting. The dance floor was CROWDED. I tend to enjoy space when dancing, but it was refreshing that people seemed to come here to DANCE. The crowd was young and fun and I would definitely go back. There was this one girl, however (there always is) that managed to climb atop this window sill and hump the air for a few minutes before the security removed her.  The bouncer kept on flashing a light on her to signal her to get the hell down.  She got so into it she thought the light was part of her show.  She nearly pulled a Britney getting down and the whole episode nicely capped off my night.

Vanguard kicks ass. I went on a Saturday, with an itinerary hooked up by a friend who's an actress/bartender and totally had a blast. We got here at about midnight. Lines were long, the place was packed, but I had a number to call and the suit at the front of the entrance picked up. He said he was expecting us, and let us right through, no pat-down, no cover, just an ID check. Awesome. We were already pretty much wasted from Geisha House, where we pre-partied (again, hooked up by a bartender there), so I don't know if the drinks were expensive. They did have a hookah station and I got to sample some good pina colada flavored stuff. Inside, the place was deep house central. I almost had an SF rave flashback, it was that good. There's music outside with people dancing and hanging out and inside was the main floor. The vibe was pretty cool and the people were chill. I hate when I end up in a place were all the guys are testosteroned out and the girls are super defensive... this was not like that at all. Danced all night... had an awesome time. Can't wait to do it again.
