SOOOOO EXPENSIVE!!!!!! Went with a group of 7 and played two games, price came out to be about $24 per person (about $170 total) Most expensive game of bowling I've ever played. Shoes were about $7 rented separately. Not worth the money, in my opinion. However, the shoes were definitely super comfortable and we still had a great time. Crowd ages looked to be ranging from high school to about 40s, which wasn't a surprise since it's an 18+ bowling alley. You go in off of Union Square and go straight to the elevator. The counter downstairs does nothing, you pay inside. The space is much bigger than you'd think it might be. The lighting and decor reminded me of... highlighters and Tron. Not sure if that's your thing, but it is what it is. My group had 2 lanes which was great, but what brings the points down is that the seats were filled with dirty candy wrappers and trash. Wish someone had cleaned up a little before we got there. Overall, it was fun and would have been better if it were better priced.

Of course. As in, of course this joint gets such terrible reviews. Honestly, whoever tells you to come here for a good time obviously has a penchant for wall-eyed crackheads, Ray-J wannabes, getting frisked against your will, and the distinguished odor of hmmm...ghetto. I'm not above a sleazy dive every now and then, but Suite181 takes the concept of a dive joint to a whole new (sub)level. It tries, really very hard, to be loungy and chic, but ultimately fails. I think they should just own up to the type of place it really is and stop charging cover. Or...maybe that would really bring in the trash. I don't know what this place needs to be more successful as a nightclub, but it needs something, and fast. If it weren't for good friends and free drinks from a cool bartender, this night would have been a total bust. Not representing SF, to say the very least. I've given Suite181 two chances, and in retrospect it was two chances too many. My dearest Rateclubers...Live, learn, and stay far away from the hot mess that is...Suite181

UGH. I never thought I'd say this, but the bouncer was the best part about this bar. I take it back -- the fireplace and the decor were neat, too. The service here was absolutely astounding. Astoundingly awful. After ordering two shots and two drinks, I handed the bartender a twenty and a card, asking him to put the balance on the card, and what happens? HE THREW THE CASH BACK AT ME ACROSS THE BAR. Are you kidding me? I'm a good tipper too. At least I WAS. Oh, and then while sitting down enjoying what was hands down the WORST cocktail I've ever had (it tasted like dishwater with lime), some "regular" had the balls to walk up and ask my friend and I the most vulgar question I can even think of. What a terrible establishment. It looks so deceivingly cute from the outside. I left that bar with a bad taste in my mouth. Literally. I was spitting for blocks from the aftertaste of that "drink."
