We went here because Varun was spinning halloween night. Pretty chill spot. Cover. Saturday night is dope for electronic music/house/etc. Everyone is so nice here. maybe its because i'm a dude. and it was a rave? Theres supposedly 4 rooms but i only saw two. The hip hop room was dead. Theres an empty room with a stripper pole and sketch couches. Lots of bathrooms. but awk.

This place has quickly become a take-out staple when I need a yummy lunch.....especially on all the rainy days we have had lately. Their menu is diverse and always forces me to choose between two different sandwiches! The bread is always super soft and fresh and combined with a cup of the soup of the day for dippin' I always feel satisfied. Warning - the line can get pretty long at lunch time, but you can always call your order ahead. In addition, the two top tables can be a bit of a tight squeeze, so try and avoid the smaller ones near the front counter as you might get pressed in on by people waiting in line.

My recent visit was the very definition of 'meh.' I've enjoyed meals here in the past, but tonight wasn't one of those nights. I ordered the special for a change, which was chicken and dumplings. Now when you call something chicken and dumplings, I think there's a certain expectation that comes with that. And even though I knew they were taking liberties with it, what I received was a total disconnect. Basically, the dish was two thin pieces of somewhat bland chicken over some Swiss chard and ricotta-filled dumplings. The dumplings, more Asian than Southern, were quite good. And so was the andouille gravy that was drizzled over the plate. But I kind of felt like nothing really went together. Plus, the chicken was filled with gristle, cartilage or something, which isn't good for an entree that cost $18. A few other things bugged me, too. One was the super-salty crab cake appetizer. Then there was the lighting. Seriously, it was so dim in the restaurant, I felt like my eyes were failing. I don't know, maybe it was just me. But instead of seeming cozy, it just made the place feel a little dingy. Like I said, I've had good meals here before. But I honestly think I've come to like the Vinings location more. It doesn't have the cool locale and charming setting, but I've generally found the food to be more consistent out in the 'burbs. I also think the dinner menu out there is a little more varied--and affordable.
