So this review is for Pride weekend, which was AMAZING, and two weekends before, which was meh. Three plus five divided by two is four, hence four stars. (I can do simple math past midnight, wheeeee!) The house DJs are incredible, but the guests can be hit or miss. Unfortunately, the one on the 12th was a big ol' miss. He managed to make Bombs Over Baghdad completely undanceable. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN? Conversely, on Pride weekend, the Lady Gaga/Madonna theme was a phenominal success both musically and in terms of fun had. And fun was definitely had by all--gay, straight, and otherwise. After all--who can resist Cher mashed up with AC/DC?

This place has a big space, location within sight of 46th street subway station, and recent renovation on the inside (at least you know everything is clean.) It has a lot of potential, but is a bit schizo. That is somewhat understandable given the mixed nature of the neighborhood, but Sidetracks seems to have lost its identity. There is a full kitchen, and they are one of the only non-diner brunch places around, but the food is mediocre at best. I would avoid the brunch. On any given evening, you may find a sports bar (the place has lots of TVs, which are usually showing multiple sporting events), an irish pub, or a guido dance-rave. This place is a good option if you have a large group of people, or if you just want to see some northwestern Queens fauna in its natural habitat.

I can say that Club Esso is pobably the best thing going for the 21-25 crowd. The regular Friday and Saturday nights have grown to have a considerable amount of people who are looking forward to enjoy a night of good music. Being that it is in East Atlanta, you get a mix of a crowd. From those who will wear their fancy linen to those who would rather just be casual and wear their jeams and rock a nicely fitted polo and some timberlands. Esso had accomodated some of the well known and local talent. From Gucci Mane to Lil' Wayne, you have your pick. Friday nights have become more for the college crowd while saturdays has moved towards the "grown and sexy" crowd. I've personally had my birthday party there and the service was something to admire. Making reservations was very easy and the staff are willing to work with you if you have any changes to make within a certain amount of time.
