The bouncer of this club was a racist and never allowed "non-Koreans" to get into the club by using the excuse of they were having a "private party" inside. The attitude of the bouncer was also very poor and arrogant. I will never go to this club again.

National Mechanics is probably the easiest-to-spot bar in old city.  It's exterior gives off the vibe of a gothic mausoleum, with it's marble pillars, lit torches and ye olde time script.  Some might find it intimidating.  Don't.  You might miss out on one of the few bars in that area not taken over by citizens of New Jersey who smell like Tag body spray. As grandiose as it appears on the outside, the interior is inviting, yet quirky.  The crowd is a decent mix of company yes-men with rolled-up sleeves, art students, mods, reformed hipsters, ladies out on a girls night and guys doing the same.  I say decent mix, instead of eclectic mix, because it's the kind of place where anyone can come and not feel like they're invading someone else's Scene.  Everybody seems pretty positive there. Lagers are always $2, though more often than not, it's lukewarm and foamy, and sometimes the tap doesn't even work (from over-use?), so come early.  Stay late on the weekends, because they have a DJ who spins some dance-worthy tunes.  My only issue is that sometimes it's TOO loud, like for some reason people aren't dancing because the music isn't loud enough.  Memo: Sometimes people just want to drink and talk to their friends.  Give it up, already. Service is good, bartenders are attentive and quick.  Private bathrooms are relatively clean.  It seems like they only have one server running around, so table service takes a while.  Your best bet is to just go to the bar yourself and bring back a pitcher for your friends. Too loud and with too limited of a menu to be good for dinner, it's more recommended for it's quick bites with the popcorn chicken, fish & chips, or thick pub fries being more than enough to absorb the cheap alcohol. There's usually something to do there every day.  Karaoke on Tuesday is fun, like a special-needs support group.  Quizzo is on Wednesdays.  Fridays and Saturdays are good for people-watching or if you like to dance but hate "clubs".  Best of all:  Sundays.  They roll out Guitar Hero. Pros: Cheap beer, fun non-pretentious crowd, good service. Cons: Loud, tables fill up by 10:00, DJ who doesn't know when to quit.

The drinks are generally stiff. Go for top shelf. The happy hour is a good time if you bring your own posse and ignore the riffraff at the other tables. Steer clear of their cringe-worthy, too-sweet, frozen, brunch margaritas. Avoid their migas like the plague unless your idea of a delicious breakfast involves 3/4 cup of bland queso in your eggs. Their Bloody Mary makes me miss New Orleans (not because it's good; because the ones in New Orleans are untouchable).
