I've stumbled in here on a number of occasions, as it is attached to Luxe Lounge (which I've written a more positive review for). Thursdays & Saturdays are 21+ and Fridays are 18+ and the dress code is nonexistent. It's pretty weak and I guess you would label it as a hood spot. The interior is hit or miss with sloppy decor and bad lighting, but makes up for some of it with good seating and murals of hip-hop icons on the walls. The dance floor is pretty much a mosh pit with people either smashed up against the mirror walls, grinding one another or assholes trying to shove their way through. Seriously, the big girls will bulldoze through you if you aren't paying attention. The service is pretty okay since the majority of bodies are packed in on the dance floor, leaving the bar pretty open. The prices are cheap and they offer pretty much any fried or buffalo chicken your heart desires, but it is kinda weird that they have a 17 year old serving the food and not someone of drinking age. A lot of the people you will spot in here are the types you know are gonna end the night in a fight. It's usually a good idea to come in here with at least a couple of people you know. That's not to say the crowd is all bad, everyone is definitely trying to have a good time, but you don't wanna linger outside too long after the place shuts down. I wouldn't recommend this spot to anyone unless you're the type that's gotta go everywhere with his goons and doesn't bother to clean yourself up before going out. Everyone else, you're probably too grown for this spot.

Wow. he Coffee T Bar made me a hookah convert! I am not especially a hookah fan. I dislike the atmosphere in the  hookah lounges I have visited... except Coffee T Bar. :D  I intend to come back for more Strawberry Margarita hookah. To push the coolness factor of this place even more, they are open 24 hours.  There is a cafe in the back serving coffee, teat and treats. Everything here has a clean look, with none of the funk and grunge hookah lounges so often have. The hookahs were prepared perfectly, the tobacco coming up as smooth as glass. The shop cares about making its clientele happy. Freddie came over and offered to attach any of our iPods to the PA! Very nice. He also brought us over a sample of a cake specially made for the cafe, a spicy cake topped with almond frosting. Yum. We easily spent a good chunk of our night here. I can imagine stopping by in the wee hours for a pot of tea and decompression.

XIV aka Fourteen has a great ambiance. It felt like a high class study room or library. We did make reservations with open table, they held a credit card for the reservation and they were late on the table for an hour and a half. Most people would say this sets a bad mood, however, their drinks were just right and our friends were stuck in traffic. It was a Friday night, so be ready for a possible wait. We all went with the 8 course meal and each one kept outdoing itself. Each portion is small, but you do get full after some time.  You can go all the way up to XIV dishes; get it? They have 35 dishes for two, but this seems only like a Man vs Food challenge! I do not recommend the lobster pot pie and wish we had something else instead of it. The waitress recommended this and NO ONE liked it at my table. We had: hamachi (tasty), beet salad (never had beets taste so good), tuna tare tare (with a nice sesame oil zing), risotto (very creamy and made perfectly), lobster pot pie (eh, blah), rack of lamb on a skewer, tai snapper (very very good), and a nutella custard dessert. OMG the dessert was amazing. It had popcorn ice cream, mango or passionfruit foam, nutella custard on the bottom. There were other parts to this dessert that I cannot even describe, but it was soooo good. Bottom line: If you have the budget for a fun night of eclectic foods and enjoy a great ambiance. This is a great place to go to in LA. BTW... the crowd is A+, so dress to impress.
