by stacey b. on I haven't been here in years for dancing or a show, the last time I was here after dark there was a dust-up that I may or may not have inadvertantly started but I come here in the mornings for breakfast and brunch and it's always good. A notch above your average diner food for certain. If it wasn't snowing out right now I'd probably go down there for some dinner. I'm hungry.
by Vicki Odonnell on LA meet SF. SF this is LA. Well sort of. Vessel is like single A ball for LA club going. The line, cover charge, DJs, color changing bar, expensive drinks and finely dressed people all make up the vibe. Dorothy this is not your average San Francisco divey lounge bar with $3 PBR specials. No long line on our arrival, or anyone else in the party. Door people were friendly and welcomed us. And you are greeted by the largest coat room ever, where the VIP room must be. Be careful if you are wearing stripper heels, the stairs can be a bit dangerous and not much lighting. Someone was at the bottom with a flashlight guiding the way. Movie theater flash back. After 10:30 pm the Clounge (club+lounge) gets busy. So if you are one to be seen making an entrance. Wait a bit. Long bar is to the right and dance floor/bottle service seating is to the left. Bar is long enough, you can belly up and order a drink fairly quickly. And if you are bored stare as it changes colors. There is NO PLACE for the common people to sit. By common people, I mean the ones not stupid enough to pay a shit load for a bottle service. But then I am probably just jealous I could not sit, and rather sink my hard earned dollars into a bike or some beer.
by Roy L. on The first time I came here, DJs from DirtyBird Records were spinning. They kicked ass. I've been here a few times since and Shine seems to have good electronic music on a fairly consistent basis. I went last Wednesday and the DJs rocked. While there was only a small crowd, everybody was totally into the music whether it was bobbin' their heads on the sidelines or bustin' their moves on the dance floor. Of course, that being said, I went there last night (Friday) and thought the music sucked. Not to mention, the place was basically empty. The bar itself is cool. They have couches along one wall that look cool but aren't that comfortable. The men's bathroom features a one way mirror so you can check out the crowd while taking care of business. I haven't tried the free photo booth but it's fun to watch all of the pictures flash on the displays they have set up.
