So this is a perfect example of a place you go to for everything but the food. I mean, the food is ALRIGHT... but not spectacular. Theres not much you can say about raw meat and veggies that you cook yourself, huh? That being said, I find this a great spot for cheesy date-night... because the entire place is a topic of conversation, which is awesome for mismatched awkwardness situations. Yes, the restaurant is themed as a seaside port town... yes, there is a pirate ship in the middle of the restaurant... yes, they have live alligators swimming around under your table... and yes, Dante himself still lumbers around knocking on your table asking how your dinner is fairing. All this might seem a little to much to handle, but thats the joy of it all.

I don't get this place. You're in a windowless room in the converted Sheraton Colony Square - what's all the velvet-rope action for? Seriously...... Yes, the W Midtown looks great, although having been to many W properties, you get the converted versus built from the ground-up feel. Yes, both Whiskey Park and the Living Room Bar have GREAT, albeit super expensive drinks. Yes, it's close to the bf's house, so it's convenient and nice to go to on Sunday evenings when no one is around. Thurs-Saturday nights? Whoa Nelly, that's another story. I have never seen a more pretentious, wanna-be type of crowd in my eight years of living here. I hate to bust the term B&T (bridge & tunnel) out, but that's what the crowd is like. God love the wait staff - they try, but just don't get it. Half are attitude-central, the other half are so pitiful that you feel sorry for them. I'll be sticking to mellow Sunday nights to enjoy my peartini.
