by Kyong Knutsen on This place USED to be one of San Francisco's great dives, but that was a LONG time ago. Food used to be good, too; the burgers are still pretty good, but everything else on the menu is hit-and-miss at best. The staff has a real attitude problem. They do have live local music most nights so I really want to overlook the negatives, but I've been there on more than one occasion where the performer was treated with almost as much disrespect by the staff as by the crowd. Tonight was the final insult: a cockroach landed on my head right after I got through eating. After being a customer for over 20 years, this place is dead to me.
by Ashlyn Mastrolia on Were it not for the Lightship itself I would have never been interested in this place. But I must say, for the Lightship alone, this place is worth the scene. I'm not one for frat parties, but I am one for scenery and a good story, this spot has both. While it is terribly crowded, the drinks aren't that good, they are expensive as all get out and after a long afternoon on deck, the people there can be pretty drunken and obnoxious, it hasn't driven me away yet. Though it doesn't have everything I'd want for a favorite place in NYC, it is still a good spot to go to take in some rays and have some beers with friends. There is no other place in NYC like it - and that says something! I'd love to get in there with my camera in the early morning or late evening light - what a thrill that would be!
by Ceci G. on Yummy!! I had a tasty tasty Delux hamburger!! And their sweet potato chips are just perfect combination. Decoration is original and you don't even feel like eating fast food. Service was GREAT! My hamburger was forgotten (we were in a large group), but when the bill came, it included a 10% discount on the house for the delay! Worth to try!
