Came here with a group of 8 last night. We made reservations via the "SF Dine About Town" program making out meal significantly cheaper than what it would usually be. The menu was prix fixe and vegetarian friendly. The gin blossom was dangerously tasty and look out for the deep fried sweet potato and taro chips with every dish. The gender illusionists: wonderful ladies who were accommodating and cordial. We definitely got lots of attention but that's probably because I was screaming my face off. Make a note - bring a rowdy crowd and you'll wind up with free shots all around. This old white man wearing Ray Ban Wayfarer glasses (my friends and I decided he was the owner) was very delightful and complemented me on my skin. It's gestures like that that make me wanna - oh I dunno - buy another round of drinks? I never made it down to the stripper pole BUT the downstairs dance floor is pretty awesome. It was there this cute woman solicited a photograph of me and my friend. God, I'm such an attention whore.

This is my favorite place to ballroom dance in LA. The dance floor on the 3rd floor is huge (competition sized), smooth, and easy on the legs and knees. This is a great place for competitive dancers to practice as it's only $10 per couple all day! The upstairs ballroom isn't air conditioned so it can get a bit warm on hot days, but the smaller ballroom on the 1st floor is air conditioned so that's always an option. Note: as of Feb. 2009, practice is not allowed on Wednesday nights from 6-10 pm, unless you're taking a private lesson that night.

ehhhhh. i'm friends with a ton of international kids and this is definitely their scene. i can't say much...because, well. everytime i go to venu/rumor, it's kind of a blur to me.... all i know is that it's a very international crowd with a very international catered dj... i wouldn't know how much the drinks are as the wonderful boys i go with always take care of that. cover is 25 dollars... and it was the club where the new england patriots partied! however, if you know a promoter, it can only be 15 dollars for cover and we always get there early around 11 to avoid the massive lines. bouncers are madd strict and don't let you drink any "water bottles" in line. we always stop by news cafe after for late night munchies.. oh yeah it's also close to chinatown too.... so lots of post drunk munchies available after the club shuts down at 2!!!
