I came here on a Tuesday night to see Anais Mitchell and the Hadestown orchestra. Considering it was my first time, I certainly didn't expect to see such an impeccably ornate hall located in a rather sketchy area (close to the tenderloin.) The sound quality was great, the service excellent, and the atmosphere was all too inviting. The food here isn't too shabby also for its rather expensive price. A friend and I shared the polenta pizza, which costs us $14. The polenta was flavorful and simply awesome.

Oh, Stephen Starr. How I love thee... This is the fifth Starr restaurant that I've visited since I started living in Philly, and I just continue to be impressed. What do I love the most about Starr restaurants? The fact that, despite how amazing the atmosphere is, the food always seems to be better (if this was not the case, I would most likely be discontinuing my quest). So, not surprisingly, I found the ambiance in Pod to be cool. I, personally, didn't like it as much as some of the other ones... but I won't let my personal preference for decor weigh into my evaluation of the quality. We didn't sit at the cool chairs at the bar, or in the color-changing pod-seating-area-things, so our table was rather plain and plastic-y. The food, though, was all around fantastorgasmical (and it came out rapidfire, which was nice because I came HUNGRY). Here were the highlights: - Chicken Lettuce Wraps. Can I order 500 more please and just eat these, and only these, for the next year of my life? Thanks. - Beef Short ribs (appetizer). I wouldn't have ordered these had the server not highly recommended them. WELL, I am thrilled I did!!!! The meat was a whole new level of flavorful, and was just falling apart, and practically melting in your mouth. They came on some udon noodles that were flavored similarly to the shortribs. Mmm!! - Ice Sculpture Sorbet (dessert): Four scoops of refreshing sorbet atop an ice sculpture to keep it cold. How cool is that? (I added a picture of this delectable dessert, in case you were curious) The other things that we ordered that were delicious, but just not as blow-your-mind were: - Chicken Potstickers - Chicken Macademia Stir Fry - Tofu and Udon stirfry ... and, what else? SAKE. "Demon Slayer" Sake, to be specific.

Started out here with evening tacos, but turned out we happened on Late nite happy hr! Not sure when it starts, but get here before 10 for some cheap drinks. 10 dollar pitchers of anything on tap (where else can you find that). Get a couple pitchers, stay until 11:30, when the whole place changes over into a night club, and skip the cover too! I'd say the crowd is a bit hit or miss. I'd say miss the night we went. It was a bit older than I expected, a lot of cougars on the prowl that night, but what are you gunna do. Get a couple beers down before hand, and you'll be set. But what was seemingly an odd taco joint, Nicks Tacos, transforms in front of you into a nightclub with chandeliers, and the whole set. I would recommend trying out the place if you can get in without cover, and definitely for the happy hour!
