Okay, so a couple of the locals told my friend and I to go to Slide instead of Ruby Skye....we did...left slide and came to Ruby Skye....maybe it was more our style...whatever it was, we had a blast. The club itself was gorgeous and very spacious, well, it is two stories. The music was good, not the stuff you hear every damn day on the radio over and over....music you can actually just dance to, not the type where guys are trying to sex a female on the dance floor!! Crowd is very sophisticated in my opinion...no drunken fools....no fights...everyone just dancing, drinking and having a good time. I am very sociable and got a long with everyone I encountered. I would def come back here next time im out here!

After traveling 2200 miles to NY and then a 2 hour drive from NY to Philly...it was an adventure in itself just getting to this restaurant... that's not even counting the experience of driving in NYC..I turned into speedracer in my SUV there and I'll get out of the car each time wondering how did I survive that. So I made it to Philly after paying almost what feels like $20 in highway fees. I didn't know about Geno or Pats at the time so I was very disappointed when I couldn't find any cheesesteak in Phiily...that's another story too so I was pretty bummed out right before dinner. I was young, naive, and just thought there was suppose to be cheesesteaks everywhere in Philly...funny now that I think about it. After changing in the car, we made our way to the restaurant. It was very contemporary with all the chairs changing colors during the course of your meal. Being a Japanese(hate the american version) Iron Chef fan and especially morimoto.. I had high expectations for this place. There were a lot of seafood dishes though and lots of odd dishes that only morimoto would think of. We had: - shot glasses filled with mousse blended with fish I believe...did not like this one.... freaked me out haha - kobe beef which was tender but $25 for about 6 tiny cubes - 1/2 dozen kumamoto oysters - morimoto sashimi - tofu in a pot that was placed at our table with the lid on.... we were suppose to leave the lid on so the tofu will set. very interesting and it was served with two sauces.....didn't taste that bad either. - I ordered this seafood pot....they brought this big bowl out and I didn't realize that it'll be cooked this way. All the seafood was in the pot with some soup...king crab, shrimp, scallops, mussels...overwhelming for me as I wasn't too comfortable with a lot of seafood yet. It was a great meal nonetheless...cost was $320 with tips for two. Unfortunately I didn't get to meet Morimoto because he was in Japan that day teaching. The manager actually sent me an autograph photo of Morimoto and a signed menu. I'll probably visit his new NY restaurant next time.....=)

Maybe I've just been out of the club scene for too long, but my experience at ESSO left much to be desired. From the reviews on rateclubs, I was expecting much better. Seeing as how I've often found the clubs in Atlanta completing lacking in an "experience" maybe my standards of what constitutes a solid club are way too high for the city. Regardless, we arrived early only to have to stand in line. Bewildered at how the appearance of the parking lot could translate into needing to stand in line to get in, we assumed our places in a spot light lit line. About 30 minutes later, we were allowed in...and promptly stopped. Ushered into a "waiting room" consisting of some bench seating, bathrooms, a horrific dj, cheap wood paneling and crown molding meant to fool you into thinking they'd put some work into the decor the bright spot in the pre-club experience was the bar, which appeared to be pouring freely. I didn't have a beverage, but my two friends did and both seemed happy with their drinks. After determining that access to the club proper wouldn't be gained until "clubbing hour" at 12:00, we stood around in a funky bunch and watched the crowd (and temperature) grow. It's important to point out that the music was horrible. I don't know who was dj'ing, but he should have his Toshiba laptop taken away from him. Digressing...music bad, crowd big, standing around = not good. When they finally let us in, we were treated to a much larger area with two large bars, a large VIP area, and a nice sized dance floor. It took another good 20 minutes for the dj for the large section to get to anything worth dancing to. He did, however, and we headed out. We got about two songs into it and it was back to crap. I don't understand how it's hard to consistently play music that people can dance to. In any case, the usual dance flood groping and "hey baby"'s commenced and we decided we'd had enough. Like I said, I've been out of the scene for awhile, so maybe this is how it is now. It seems to appeal to plenty other people.
