Hmmm...I wasn't impressed with the Compound, It's a pretty club and a nice place to take visitors but ehhh...the music and the crowd wasn't that great. I'll give it one more try but for now the Compound is not for me.

i have the worst luck going to see shows and concerts in LA. since moving to the area, the parking is exorbitant, the people who show up are typically weird, and the venues are never more than just decent. i' came here to see Broken Social Scene with Kevin Drew, and i'm sorry to say the orpheum falls under all of the above category. on top of that, there isn't a decent place to get smokes within walking distance, the area is in a sketchy neighborhood so you're better off driving with friends, the bartender wasn't that cool when i asked a simple question, and the people i had the misfortune to bump into was straight-up rude. as far as the interior goes, i felt that the art-deco furnishings was just a little more than cheesy. i've been to some beautiful theaters- one of my favorites is seeing Sigur Ros at the Paramount Theater in Oakland- but for some reason I felt like i was stuck in a vegas casino aiming for classy. i definitely wouldn't come back here unless it was for a band/artist i was in love with.
