Went here to start off our trip in Austin. Our friend suggested we get the Mexican Martinis and that we're only allowed 2. When you're only allowed a certain number of a kind of alcoholic drink, you've been warned. We all ordered the Mexican Martini's and they let you customize it with whatever tequila you want and how sweet or bitter you wanted it too. It came out in a shaker with a strainer and a martini glass with olives. I could see why these are limited to only 2. The alcohol is masked very well and I could just drink these like juice. I, infact, finished half of the DP's too. Later that night, after a romp on 6th street, I can see how lethal these are. Let's say this, we all visited the porcelain god that night. In fact, our friend that lives in Austin forgot that we even had them the next day.

My girlfriend and I went to The Velvet Room for the first time on a Friday night. We arrived early as recommended by rateclubs reviewers. Got there about 10:30 p.m. No line. Ladies get in free before midnight. Security check is very thorough, like airport security. Polite security staff. You may not take in ANY medication, RX or over the counter, so leave that in your car. Once inside we were very impressed with the high class decor. Gorgeous nightclub. We had arrived early and found no seating. We wandered into a bar area where we saw seating. A bouncer rudely commanded us away from the seating. I explained it was our first time and we'd like to sit until crowds arrived because we were in high heels. He told me that we were not allowed in the VIP bar area. Mind you, there was not a soul in that area. Not one single VIPer who might be offended by our presence if we sat temporarily. I asked where we could sit. He pointed to two armchairs in a dark niche which were already occupied. Anna and I stood in 4-inch heels from 10:30 pm until 2 a.m. THAT is my biggest complaint about this nightclub. If The Velvet Room wants to draw more ladies to the club who are dressed-to-kill I highly suggest seating of some kind. What I did enjoy: the free parking, the drinks were perfectly made, and we danced most of the night to great music. Everyone partying there was dressed well/classy. We met and danced with SO many interesting people. When we left I felt safe walking to my vehicle with the police presence.

So, usually I come in here for some good music, and to get some work done in the evening hours. I've been in here a total of 3 times, and the third might be my last. I'm currently amongst 8 guests at 11pm on a MONDAY. The Bartender thinks it's necessary to BLAST an Eminem concert. I can't get through a single thought. Though there is relatively no one in this lounge/bar, everyone is huddled together trying to put together pieces of conversations. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for listening to some Eminem and getting my ghetto white boy self out here and there. But, you'd think after 30 people come in, and immediately walk out, the bartender might think that something was wrong. It's not friday 'bro' it's monday. EPIC FAIL!!
